~Chapter 42~

"No don't! Please!" The Hound tossed a panicked car into the arena, followed by another car before it turned to leave. As the first car managed to get up and make a break for the open door, another Hound came charging in, swiping a paw at the car and sending it spinning into the room. Like a Hound would in this hellhole, it went after the only car screaming and trying to get free, toying with it and batting it around the room. Zotic watched in fear and tried to shake Jaslo out of her trance. The car, a heavily beaten up Civic, noticed the other open door where the two stood and tried to drag itself to the door, only to be pinned by the beast that barked at it before sinking teeth in and ripping off a door. The screams from the car finally did something, and without much warning, Jaslo shot forward into the arena, fangs bared and claws out. She lunged at the Hound's face, sinking her claws into its eyes and quickly shifting to gain an advantage with her wings, throwing it off balance and toppling it over. Zotic sped through the room over to the other car that was tossed in, figuring this was more worry than the car that was half crushed and torn up already.

"An alpha? You survived?!" the Hound snarled in his feral language.

"Just die already you beast!" Jaslo roared back, leaping off his face and slamming it with her tail. She didn't take notice to the poor Civic that tried desperately to crawl to the open door, and nearly landed on it as she lunged at the Hound again. It didn't take long for the Hound to yelp out and fall silent, as the massive wings spread upwards in a victory pose from the black beast. Zotic glanced over to see her amber eyes look down at the Hound, open wound on its neck from her fangs, and he could tell she was struggling. Her mind screamed to finally eat, just like she had done a thousand times before, but her jaw quivered and her vision got unfocused.

"Jas!" She shook her front, letting her iris turn from amber to brown once more and she bounded over to him with great urgency. He stood next to a Prius who was breathing hard, a puncture through their roof and hood gave away their condition off the bat. He placed a tire on the car's side, looking over to her with more concern than she had ever seen. It was then she took in the full scene; this car was heavily pregnant and the shock of this recent event had thrown the poor Prius into labor. Jaslo looked over to Zotic with more fear than concern.

"I ain't a doctor! This is the literal exact opposite of what I was made for!" she stated, hearing the car whine and glanced over.

"We can't just leave her in here like this! Another of those things will come in and kill her easy! She can't even see as is, and I doubt she can hear us anyways." Zotic calmly stroked the car's side, watching the still closed door like a hawk.

"Look, if they've been in here for a few days, whatever comes out of them will be a beast like me, and it's not worth the trouble to save it! Besides, we need to get out of here!" Jaslo's mirror flicked as the noise of a car gasping for air pulled her attention to the door she had opened. The Civic had pulled itself over and through it, taking a breather at the ramp. Her eyes went wide with horror as she opened her wings slightly.

"I don't care what you think, we have to help just one car here," Zotic said before looking over as she leapt into the air, her wings giving a broad flap before she landed on the car across the room. His startled yelp was shut off as she bounded back with it in her jaws, fangs carelessly digging into the car's roof before she dropped it next to Zotic.

"The fuck was that about?!"

"If he goes up that ramp, he's going to rile up all the creatures there and send more Hounds down here!" Both the Civic and Zotic looked up at her and then each other. Soon the trio looked down at the car who panted heavily and cried out in pain. Zotic resumed his glare at his partner, demanding an answer for their situation.
