QOTC- who's relationship do you want to see more of?
(one and a half months later)
There's tension in the air as Josephine and I walk side by side, my wolf and I worried that we might've just messed things up with our mate.
She hasn't spoken a word in a little over two months, which that alone greatly concerns me. I've learned to understand her a lot more now that she went selectively mute. I'm now able to tell the difference between her fake and genuine smiles and also have decent conversation even though I'm the only one speaking. But still, I really do miss the sound of her voice.
Occasionally, she lets out giggles or laughs when we're having a good time, but it's no where close to how it used to be. The clearest communication we have is when we text, but I try not to rely on our phones to communicate, especially when we're right next to each other. So the only times we really use our phones to text one another is when I'm checking up on her from work or when we're discussing where to meet up.
Mind-linking is out of the question as well. She'll allow mind-links to come through to her, but she won't ever respond to them. Most people at this point heavily depend on texting to communicate with her, including Nate and Elia, and I found out through the mate-bond that she considers this the 'easy way out'. She's been feeling as though everyone at this point is just tolerating her. I fear that sometimes she even thinks the same way about me, especially after what I just did.
I got a call from border patrol saying that twenty-seven rogues showed up and were threatening to attack if they didn't get what they wanted. And what did they want? Josephine.
When I arrived at the scene, I immediately knew that these wolves were working with Keaton. They were fighting against my small group of guard wolves in the area so I had to join in to make sure they wouldn't actually enter my territory. The first rogue I took down had the nerve to talk about he was 'excited to use her' once she was taken from me. That comment alone sent my wolf and I into a blind rage, killing the rest of the rogues in under three minutes.
My guard wolves were forced to call for backup when they weren't able to calm me down. Coincidentally, they ended up calling Josephine's team to help clean up the mass of dead bodies and to aid in stopping me from destroying more of the structures around us. I don't know why the hell they were in this part of the territory, but they were.
Flashback
"Alpha, you need to calm down!" I let out a loud growl when wolves start putting their hands on me, trying to keep me still.
"Someone call Beta Mathews!"
My extended claws tear their way through the rogue corpses, trying to make them pay for threatening my mate. I'm constantly throwing wolves off of me, the resistance growing stronger each time more wolves try to hold me down. I pause for a split second when I recognize the faintest of sparks on my arm, but don't stop pushing people off and away from me.
Oddly enough, this is when I stop feeling hands on my body. I hear someone running up to me from behind, but don't turn around I hear a thud and someone scream, "Keep the Luna back!"
"MINE!" I growl, my wolf surfacing when we see our mate on the ground with the hands of unmated males on her. I stalk towards them, watching as Josephine struggles out of their hold and runs up to stop me from punishing the wolves for touching her.
Her attempts to push me back don't work, so she resorts to jumping onto me, knowing that I'll stop moving if I'm holding her in my arms. And it works.
