I was freaking out.
I, Kimberly Lee, never got detention. But here I was, a couple of desk down from the jerk who started this all.
I never thought anything like this could happen to me. I was just an ordinary girl who was just apart of a foreign exchange student program. All I wanted was to view a beautiful place in America where they called it Los Angeles. I never thought in my third week of school, I would be sitting here behind a desk after school serving a detention. I am not this type of girl.
If my mother heard about this, I would have gotten a beaten of a lifetime. In Korea, it was much different. In my house hold, it was different.
I'm never this active. In fact, I'm kept to myself and usually tended to mind my own business but I couldn't help but say something. It was always my mouth that got me in trouble and in this case, it did me wrong.
I press my head against my desk, crying in my head. I didn't want to be here. I rather spend my afternoon watching a show my best friend introduced me to, On My Block. But that wasn't going to happen anytime soon.
I turn my head to face the window and instead of seeing sunshine, a body was blocking my way. I sigh, rolling my eyes with a disgusted face.
I'll tell you how I got into this stupid situation. Two words. Noah. Centineo.
Earlier this morning
"Are you excited?"
"I don't know. I mean, yes, kind of."
Studying abroad was always one of my dreams so to be actually here in America, I was living the American Dream. At least that's what I thought three years ago. I had first come to America, my sophomore year. And since my experience, I've been coming every single year. Now it was my senior year and my mother was at first, up on the fence of letting me leave. But I somehow manage to convince her to let me come. I couldn't just leave. I made friends here and I wanted to graduate with them.
"You should be. You've been to Los Angles and now you have the opportunity to go Hawaii! Freaking Hawaii", my best friend Mia explains.
When I first came here, I had no friends of course but that didn't stop Mia Martin from making me feel welcoming. She was a long-haired-brunette-beautiful-freckled-girl and I loved everything about her from the way she talked to the way she viewed things. Originally I was staying at someone else house but after they put their name on the market and we got approval from the school, I moved to stay with her.
"Yeah, I guess so. Anyways how are you? How's your arm feeling?"
"It's better. The doctor said I should refrain myself from picking up heavy objects but other than that I feel better."
"That's good. Have you figured out what you're going to do for your parking spot."
"Hey, we both share the car. It's our parking spot."
Our school had this tradition that every senior gets to participated in painting their parking spot however they wanted. Mia always drove us to school and it was her car but we shared it.
"Yeah but it's your senior year."
"And it's your senior year too. You should experience it just as much as me. How about this? We split it? We both have a side each."
"Sounds perfect", I smile.
Just as I'm about to say something else, a rude stranger collides with Mia. He runs into her, pushing her arm. She falls to the ground, dropping her things.
