Deeksha's POV:

It was now time for me to leave my home, that home in which I had stayed for the past 24 years, it ached to turn my back and walk.

My home, my bedroom, my swing, my dolls, I just could not control tears falling down like rain. I hugged dad tightly and started sobbing like a kid. He consoled me and ensured that he would always stand by my side.

I waved goodbye to all my cousins, relatives, friends and Radhika, we promised each other that our friendship would never change.

I then came to mom, she had already given me a lot of tips and she repeated them all in one go like a typical Indian mother. Dad then took me to Nikhil, and told him, "She is my life. I have raised her like my princess. Please take care of her".

Nikhil nodded and added, "You are giving me your treasure but in return, I can only give you a promise. I will love her and take care of her until my last breath"

Dad then hugged him, we took their blessings. My in-laws too reassured my parents that they would treat me like their own daughter and I know they would. Nikhil held my hand and we started walking towards his car. His other relatives had already left.

Only our car was left which was beautifully decorated and the driver was waiting. Nikhil then spoke something to his driver and gave him some money.

He then opened the front door gently for me, and we left. He next stopped the car near a park. He then came closer and kissed my forehead. I smiled.

"Are you okay ?", he asked holding my hands.

"Nikhil, everyone must be waiting at home. We should leave", I answered honestly. I wasn't fine but nevertheless, this would be my life henceforth and I had to accept it.

"I don't care, I want you to be fine", he said kissing my knuckles.

"I will be, but I need some time", I said while tears formed in my eyes.

"Hey, look at me, you don't have to cry honey, I am always with you and I promise that I will never leave you. Your smile is the most important thing to me Deeksha. So please stop crying". He kissed my eyes and what can I do except for smiling. He leaves me with no choice.

"That's like my girl. Wait, I shall get something for you", he said removing his seat belt. I don't know why but I didn't want him to go.

"No Nikhil, not now. Let's go home first", I opposed him.

"Wait, I shall get something to change your mood", he said caressing my face.

"No, I don't want", I said stubbornly. "Deeksha, are you alright?", he asked worrying.

"Nikhil, please don't go", I almost begged him. He looked slightly annoyed. "Is everything okay? What is up with you Deeksha?"

I took a deep breath, why am I acting so weird? what should Nikhil think?

"Okay, as you wish. Let's go home then", he said fixing his seat belt.

"No Nikhil, I am better now", I said looking at him.

"You sure?", he asked for my confirmation. I nodded.

"Can you see that ice cream parlor over there? Shall I get one for you?" , he asked to which I replied a yes. He was about to get down but then he turned,

"I love you Deeksha", he said with utmost honesty

"I love you too", I said beaming with pleasure.

I was waiting in the car and I could see him coming with two ice creams in his hand, I was imagining my whole life with him when everything turned upside down.

What did just happen?

My legs started shivering, I started losing my strength. I could see the mob gathering. Somehow I managed to get out of the car. I pushed the crowd and started moving.

There was blood all over his face, eyes closed. He was lying there, on the ground, my Nikhil, my husband.

A person in the crowd told, "I don't think he is alive. Looks like he died on the spot." People also started murmuring that probably we had just got married.

I could not move my hands. I slowly touched him, he didn't respond, I shook him but again no response. I shouted, screamed, called out his name yet he didn't answer.

By that time, fortunately, an ambulance arrived. Somebody must have informed. We reached a nearby hospital.

The ward boy hurriedly took him on a stretcher. The doctor immediately arrived, he touched Nikhil's wrist, used a stethoscope and then looked at me with those eyes filled with sympathy.

I could barely talk, I asked: "How is he?"

He replied, "I am sorry, he is no more."
