Happy reading

Harshad's POV:
Aman kept a reassuring hand on my shoulders. He asked me to push the door and face her. Running away can never be a solution to the problems.
I opened the door and we sat at the farthest table possible. I tried not to divert my mind but could not stop looking at her. By the time our orders were placed, they were done. I was happy that they were leaving but she came and stood next to my table.
"Harshad, hi", she said with a slight doubt. It seemed as though she wasn't sure if she was talking to the right person.
But, whoa, she recognized me. She at least knew how I looked. A small smile crept across my face.
"Hey", was all I managed to blurt.
She proceeded her hand forward for a brief handshake and my hand met hers.
This was the very first time I had ever touched her. She smiled widely and then again wrapped the same hand around that guy's shoulder.
"Umm", she stuttered "My friend Harshad", she told him.
Whoa! FRIENDS. When did this happen? I never knew this. Then, she looked at me and told, "This is my fiancé Nikhil".
It was a very weird feeling, no, the worst feeling to date.
She had moved on. But she was never mine. Come on, I wasn't supposed to be this shocked. She was beautiful, smart, independent. Any guy would have wanted her.
'But then she belonged to me' said my heart.
'No, she never did' said my mind. But enough of this, I am not going to cry. I am not going to ruin my life for the second time. She had already rejected me. Then, why did I keep expectations? I should not have believed in miracles.
I congratulated them, introduced them to both Gaurav and Aman. As expected, both my friends reacted coldly. But Nikhil seemed like a good guy, the one she deserved. She looked happy with him. He spoke to us nicely. I was happy that she was at least she could marry the guy she loved.
Her wedding was on the same day I was leaving for the US. Good for me. I told her I would not be able to attend and wished them good luck.
The news of Deeksha getting married single-handedly brought down the entire enthusiasm I had. I knew she wasn't mine but it was official now. I had lost my love forever.
I tried being as normal as I could but my friends realized that I was not fine.
Before leaving Aman told, "Harshad, this is probably the last time I am telling you. Not just as a friend but as a brother. Please forget her. She can give you pain and only pain. Its high time you move on.
Can't you see she is happy with some other fellow? She doesn't need you Harshad. Let her be. Prove that you don't need her either. Be happy in your life."
And I nodded as I always did.

Deeksha's POV:
Finally, I got my bridal attire.
I wanted my wedding dress to be slightly different. Not the usual red one. So I chose a beautiful sea green lehenga from the art silk fabric. The peach colored veil made it more gorgeous. I was in love with my costume.
I wanted to try it out once, as I could just not compromise with my outfit. Yay fits perfectly I chirped and came running out when I saw Nikhil in the living room. Damn, wasn't he supposed to come back tomorrow?
"When did you come back?", I asked. Mom told she will arrange the snacks and went inside the kitchen.
He started coming closer and I am sure he could even listen to my racing heartbeats.
"Why did you come to me? Why didn't you tell me that you were lying today", God, why is this so embarrassing? I was jumbling up my sentences. What happens to me when he is around?
He chuckled and said "Relax"
"How do I relax?", I asked looking at him
"Deep breaths", he said and took one.
"Please move back", I pleaded.
"Why?", he asked with a raised brow
"Because, when you are around.."
"Shush, you look beautiful. I can't wait to get married to you", he whispered in my ear.
And I couldn't wait anymore either to begin my new life with my man.

21st November 2016
Finally, the day of our wedding arrived. The BIG day.
The sea-green lehenga, the jewellery, hands filled with bangles, I looked different. My cousins started complimenting me by saying that I was the most beautiful bride they had ever seen. I am sure they were buttering me up, but yes; I looked extremely beautiful.
Meanwhile, mom and dad entered my room. I could understand their feelings. Their emotions kept switching between being sad and happy.
I knew their life would be a roller coaster ride without me and maybe even my life would be similar for the next few days without them but I knew Nikhil would be there for me.
They blessed me, dad kissed my forehead and mom almost started crying. My relatives started consoling her and I warned that her makeup will be spoiled.
She then smiled when my youngest cousin came and started yelling that Nikhil and his family arrived. Mom and dad immediately left while Radhika and I were trying to peep from my window. He looked so hot in a black sherwani.
After some time, my cousins came, the beautician gave final touches. I knew it would be a tedious task for the next few hours as I had to stand like a doll and smile in every possible picture that would be clicked.
I slowly came along with them. The decorations were splendid. Dad held my hand, I could see the happiness on everybody's face around me.
I was nervous but Nikhil pulled me a little closer and whispered something in my ear which I could not figure out at that moment yet it made me smile. His little sweet gestures made me love him more.
And yes, after all the rituals we got MARRIED!
