Happy Reading

Deeksha's POV:
Nikhil for sure had made some serious effect on me.
I wanted to avoid him but couldn't.
I was checking him out on all his social media profiles, Shruti was our mutual friend so I could easily stalk him. He looked more and more handsome as I kept scrolling.
God!..save me.
I wanted to send a request but then my ego stopped me. I wanted him to make a move if he was interested. What the hell? What am I even thinking?
I switched off my laptop and went to sleep.
Harshad's POV:
Deeksha had read my message but didn't bother to reply. She had time to post a pic with her friend but could not send a simple thank you. I felt hurt, always rejected. I wanted to text her, ask her why can't she leave me alone or maybe why can't I get over her.
Another new season as days passed swiftly. The placement season. Various companies started hiring students, everybody badly wanted a job.
But, it was uncanny that I had rejected a 13 LPA offer.
First time I had rejected something in life because I wanted to achieve something I deserved.
I cleared the entrance exams with a nice score and decided to go to the States for higher studies. My parents and friends, as usual, supported me. Life here was not easy. College, course, people, weather, everything was different. I took time to get used to this environment but slowly started liking it.
I would make sure that I talk to my parents daily. Thanks to the technology that though I stayed far away I could see them, hear their voice every day.
Gaurav, Aman and I were still in contact. We were friends for life. And Deeksha, I had completely lost touch with her. Neither did she start a conversation nor did I. After all, I had promised my friends that I would never text her again, that doesn't imply I forgot her but yes, I was at least making an effort.
Deeksha's POV:
18th January 2016
Damn, I was so tired after coming back home. Though these companies pay a good salary they make sure we employees work ten times we earn.
Dad and mom were attending a wedding reception tonight. I was exhausted yet they wanted me to join them.
I finally chose a dull grey color embroidered salwar suit. I usually preferred subtle colors. I kept my look simple as always and then went with a pair of earrings. Minimal makeup, a simple hairstyle, pink lips and we were all ready to leave.
Dad and mom were humming something but stopped as soon as they saw me. The traffic was horrible but we managed to reach the venue on time as it wasn't too far.
I was talking to one of my dad's colleagues when I saw
NIKHIL
I saw him probably after a 1 year and 2 months. I had never seen him since that day and I can't deny that I was waiting for this moment and there he was.
He wore a dark blue kurta and looked charming as usual. My heart beat started racing and I couldn't stop blushing. He was with a group of guys and I could not even look at others because he was there.
Nervousness engulfed me as I saw him walking towards me. I opened my front camera and sighed as I looked beautiful. I was avoiding an eye contact but his strong gaze made me more nervous.
Now that he was standing right in front of me it was very hard to stay normal. He greeted my dad's colleague and introduced himself to me. Why was he pretending as if we met for the first time? or wait, did he forget me? Yes, I think he must have forgotten me.
Why would he even remember? I was an ordinary girl after all. He might have a girlfriend too and I should not keep any expectations.
Meanwhile, my parents approached and there was another couple along with them. Nikhil went towards them so maybe they were his parents.
The way our parents spoke seemed they knew each other. His parents asked him to spend some time with me. I looked at dad, he nodded giving a sign of approval.
We started walking on the lawn. Both of us didn't know how to start the conversation. It was such an awkward situation. And then his voice
Hi Deeksha
And it still gave me goosebumps.

And that is it.
