The next few months would fly by faster than Finn and I could have ever imagined. With school coming to a close, lacrosse season in full swing, and the date in which we leave for Tokyo approaching rapidly, the days blurred together in a jumble of stress and confusion.
I never asked Jason about what was going on with Al, I just assumed it was a one time thing because he never brought it up. No one had heard from Chris either. It was fair to say that our lives were well past moving on without him.
The timing of college games made our lives difficult, sometimes calling on us to miss training or classes. Coach didn't mind because we were still playing lacrosse and my grades never slipped so it didn't really bothered me, but it did make my schedule more confusing. With finals approaching as well as the playoffs for NCAA, I was constantly tired and so was Finn. We tried to make the best of our time but we definitely spent our friday nights studying or sleeping as opposed to hanging out with Owen and Emma.
Finn and I weren't going home for Easter. With everything going on in Maryland and DC it was best that we stayed in our rhythm so on Easter Sunday we took the short drive up to Hopkins to visit Sam who had also stayed in Maryland for the holiday.
Usually I'd be thrilled for warmer weather, but the sun beating down on my skin was becoming eerily uncomfortable. White Christmas had quickly turned into what I like to call greenhouse March and sweltering April. It was like the weather had just decided that it was cold enough in December so now it was time to burn us all alive.
The sun was murdering on my pale skin like it was the middle of summer as I walked the John Hopkins campus with Finn, Sam, and Kelsey. Incase you were wondering; no, Sam and Kelsey were not dating. It seems as if Sam was destined to be forever alone.
"I feel bad for Al right now, this heat is blistering." I muttered while raking my hand through my chestnut hair. "It's probably humid there too."
"Well it's her fault for abandoning us." Sam said in mock bitterness. "It's obvious that Maryland was the place to go."
"Sam, there's this thing called an education. Maybe if you studied more, you'd understand why some people travel for a good one." Kelsey said sarcastically while bumping her body into Sam's side. For the big guy he was, the small blonde girl with tattoos made Sam almost fall over.
Finn let out a throaty laugh as Sam tripped on the edge of the sidewalk tile, barely staying upright. "Good thing you're a fucking goalie because you can't stay on your feet to save your life."
Sam reached around me and punched Finn in the arm with a little more force than needed. "I'm not just any goalie, I'm one of the best goalies in the league." He bragged in his usual cocky way.
"I don't know, Marvin's looking pretty good." I commented, complimenting Maryland's goalie. Marvin was damn good. He was a junior from Washington that had been starter since his freshman year. Now that we were well into playoffs, it was looking like Maryland had a shot at winning it.
"Marvin leaves his right side open too much." Sam said, not realizing that he was helping us. John Hopkins was on the other side of the bracket this year, making it very possible that it came down to our two teams in the finals. Right now we were in the second round. Maryland has just beaten Duke and Hopkins had beaten Albany. We played Yale next while Sam played Norte Dame.
I wanted to play Norte Dame in the finals just so I could shove it in their faces that the player they rejected just because she had a vagina could kick their ass.
"Thanks bud," Finn patted Sam on the back loudly. "I'll be sure to let Marvin know."
"Awe, damn it!" Sam huffed, realizing he was inadvertently helping us out.
