"Mama! No!" Blossomkit screeched Ashstar pinned down her mother and tore into her throat. Larksongs once yellow tabby pelt was now stained with many splotches of blood, and the red liquid oozed out of her throat, pooling around her.

Blossomkit raced forward, and nuzzled her mothers fur, which was frosty cold, and smelled of death.

"Mother! No! No! You can't die!" Blossomkit howled in agony. The kit buried her face in the soft yellow fur, and tried shaking Larksong, acting as if she was just sleeping rather than dead.

"Mama..." Blossomkit whimpered, then trailed off. How? How could she let this happen to her mother? How could she let her die?

Suddenly, a dark shadow fell over the mourning kit and her dead mother. Blossomkit whipped around to see the dark figure of Ashstar. Blood dripped from his jaws, and cuts and bruises were scattered all across his fur. The excitement of battle still flared in his eyes, and a look of triumph and evilness spread across his face. He flashed a toothy grin of bloodthirsty happiness towards her.

"You!" Blossomkit wailed. "You killed her! You killed my mother! And now you're going to pay, you selfish brute!" Blossomkit charged herself at her Leader, and Ashstar waited patiently for her to come closer. Then, once she was less than a tail length ahead of him, he flashed out his unsheathed paw and swatted her away, then he swiped at her throat as she lay on the ground, and everything went black.

Blossomkit woke with a start.

Great StarClan, that was a scary dream. But that dream may soon become real today, Blossomkit thought in defeat. She sighed, knowing that she could do little to help herself now in this situation. She might as well just jump off of a cliff, and the ending result would be the same as the end of today. Ashstar was going to kill her and her mother, and her siblings were going to become slaves.

Larksong, and Blossomkit had been moved to a different den last night, the Prisoner Burrow, Ashstar called it. The Prisoner Burrow was a very old burrow that a fox and her cubs had dug many years before. The roof, and walls were crumbling, and it seemed as if it would fall on top of the two she cats at any moment. The den was on the ground, unlike the camp, and Ashstar had diliberatly chosen this den to make both cats as uncomfortable as possible, because all TimberClan cats always felt nervous on the ground below the safety of the trees. The den was a little way away from the camp, and some fern bushes hid it from sight. Ashstar had placed three of his loyal Warriors outside the burrow as guards. The cats were Robinpelt, Ashstars sister, Addershade, and Weaslescar, who was Blossomkits fathers brother, and also the one who had knocked her out the night before.

My own kin, turning on me, Blossomkit thought with disgust. What has this Clan come to?

Larksong was already awake, staring outside at where the guards were posted. Blossomkit nudged her mother, who turned to look at her.

"Yes, Blossomkit?" Larksong asked. Blossomkit gazed sadly at her mother.

"Are we going to die today?" The kit asked. Larksong looked down at her paws, not meeting Blossomkits gaze.

"I- I don't know" Larksong stuttered. Yes, she does know. She's just afraid of the answer, Blossomkit thought in sadness. She was afraid of the answer too. What if they did die today? What if Blossomkits siblings did really become slaves, and it would be her fault because she had only made things worse when she and Whisperkit took away one of Ashstars lives. What if her Clan suffered forever under Ashstars leadership?

"Mama" Blossomkit asked, trying to keep her mind off of the subject of killing.

"Why did Ashstar keep you here for so long? And why did he let me live for so long? And what about the other cats? You, and I, and over half of the Clan still believes in StarClan, and the Warrior Code. Why didn't he just drive us all out?"
