I didn't want to go through with the plan, but I had no options left. I begged my father to delve deeper into the evidence of the workers being accused but he wouldn't listen. And the King agreed to my father's decision, which is strange because he'd usually be the type of not believe immediate accusations.
But I guess since his son was gone, he wanted peace like the rest of the kingdom did. Even the King can be flawed but he cannot be stopped. The two workers will be slaughtered tomorrow for their accused crimes. The King's orders are the law.
I tie my hair back and sighed. Today really is the day. It's now or never.
I went to the women's school and then straight to the fighting academy. Suga, Jin and I told Master Haden prior we were missing his class.
We went to Joon's tailor store and changed into servant clothes. We covered half our faces with scarves and went to the huge gate surrounding the palace.
I gave a letter to the guards from Chinua to explain that I went to get mangoes and bring two palace workers.
I told Jin and Suga that Chinua was a longtime friend of mine after working as a servant at the palace. Although they didn't seem to believe me, they didn't pry any further and agreed.
We went to the jail area. There were guards standing in front of the jail and two towers which also had guards, weaponed with bows and arrows. I knew the exact time that the tower windows wouldn't be occupied due to a small fifteen minute break.
We had to knock these guards out in front of the jail as silent as possible.
After investigating Erden's building, we found that since the people were in a rush, they didn't take everything. Suga pried open one of the wooden boards and found a drug that could instantly make someone faint if they whif it.
The guards' helmets had a breathing hole that allowed their nose to peer through. We grabbed their arms and then put the drugs near the noses. Like predicted, they instantly fainted. Jin and Suga drag their bodies behind the bush and we take off and wear their armor. Fingers crossed, we finally into the jail. There were tons of guards inside.
I was also able to convince Chinua to tell the guards that someone's intruding into her room and to demand the guards come from the jail. I told her I had friend from the horse academy who will break out those people from jail. I don't know why but she agrees to my strange plan.
Half the workers from the jail left. Perhaps since no-one has escaped from this jail before, they thought nothing could happen in a span of minutes. They believed they had to listen to the bratty princess. Maybe the princess would give them a tip in cash.
We walked around the jail, looking for the cell with the two palace workers who may have been wrongfully accused. We finally do but there's three guards protecting their cells. Suga, Jin and I charge at them and knock them out, using the little drugs we had left.
"Please come out. We're here to take you to safety," I beg Qara, the female servant that called me to get breakfast last week. My face was mostly covered and I wasn't wearing makeup around my eyes. I prayed she wouldn't figure out it was me, the King's niece.
Qara is tearing up and protecting Arban, the other servant with her arms. "Why should we believe you?"
"We have a great escape plan. Look, it's either you stay here and get slaughtered tomorrow or come with us," Suga tells Qara and Arban.
