Chapter Eleven:Baby Names

The next couple of days went by in a blur after the first day of daryl staying at the kingdom he came back and he hasn't left since I walk out of the trailer that I share with maggie and enid sasha has another one I stand next to maggie as she helps set the table and clementine does too and glenn smiles at me I return his smile and I ruffle his hair he whines and maggie says to clementine "no hats at the table clem".

She smiles at him "okay mom" she catches herself off guard and then looks at maggie and then glenn he smiles and maggie smiles at her and kisses her forehead and enid walks out "mom I need help with the food can you help me?" I walk inside and I help her with the venison that daryl had caught earlier today I push the meat into a patty and today we are making venison bacon burgers we make our own ham and bacon here glenn said rick had taught him before the prison fell and when the food gets done we pass it around the hilltop people I made enough to feed a small army and we sat down to eat outside.

Enid sits right in between daryl and I and geno was at the front of the table and lucy was sitting on the porch with luke and clementine says "oh I almost forgot I found this when I went out with daryl today" she runs inside and brings back a baby name book I giggle and nodd at her and I look at maggie "i've already picked out a name for mine and glenn likes it".

I smile and I look at daryl and I ask "we haven't discussed it but he wants the middle name to be rose" he nodds with a smile and he says "I like the name rose kinda reminds me of the cherokee rose" I nodd with a smile and that night I kept tossing and turning in bed and that night I walk outside and see daryl sitting on the porch smoking a cigarette when he see's me he puts it out I smile and sit down next to him and he says "i've been lookin through that baby book with the names?".

I nodd and he looks at me "none of those names jump out at me I like em but she deserves a unique name like yers like ember or phoenix she deserves a great name" I smile and look down at my feet "how do you know it's a girl it could be a boy" he chuckles and then looks at me again "I just know" I smile and toss my hair over my shoulder I look at him "if we ever do figure out a name lets keep it between us until he or she is here".

He nodds with a little smile and nobody moves or anything we were just comfortable in our own company and nobody said a word I didn't say a word to him he didn't say a word to me and for now that was enough.

The next morning I walk out of our trailer and I see daryl sitting on one of the picnic tables playing with one of his knives I smile and I hear cal scream from his post "the saviors are coming" I gasp and run towards daryl and enid grabs my hand and she says "mom dad we gotta go" she grabs my hands and I ask "where's maggie?" about that time maggie was approaching us I grab daryl's hand and enid says "come on we don't have time to get to the other hideout just come on".

We follow her behind the barrington house and right as we disappear behind the house negan's truck's are coming in enid opens up the doors and she says "i'll make sure no saviors head over here stay quiet" we get down there and hide behind one of the shelves and she whispers "be careful mom" I wink at her and I stand between maggie and daryl and after a few minutes a savior walks into the hideout I see daryl hold up his knife and he was about to kill him I grab his arm and lower his arm and he calms down and when the savior leaves and slams the door daryl walks up and peaks out and I say "you were gonna kill that guy".

He doesn't face me his back is turned away "he was gonna find us" I bite my lower lip and I cross my arms over my stomach and he says "he deserved to die" I walk closer to him and he moves away from me and I ask "daryl ever since you've gotten back you've been avoiding me I mean you'll talk but I know something is bothering you".
