Chapter 7

The next day...

Jeff POV

"Jeff!"

My eyes snapped open.

"What?" I asked.

"Guess what?"

"What?"

"We're going on vacation!"

"Huh?"

"Get up!"

Riker started bouncing up and down on my bed.

"Ok, ok! I'm up!" I said, sitting up.

"Let's go!"

"Go where?"

"Breakfast!"

Riker grabbed my hand, and pulled me downstairs to the kitchen.

"Hey, Jeff. How is your head feeling?" Mom asked.

"It's ok. A little bit sore, though."

I sat down next to Riker. Mom gave us plates of waffles.

"Has Riker told you yet?" Rydel asked me.

"Vacation?" I asked.

"Yup!"

"Family meeting!" Mom called.

All my other siblings appeared at the table and sat down.

"Ok. So your father decided it might be nice to take a family vacation so we can all have some bonding time with Jeff," mom said.

I shrunk down in my chair a little. I don't like all the eyes on me.

"We're leaving tonight before dinner, so I want everyone to pack after breakfast," dad said.

"Where are we going?" Ross asked.

"We're going to the mountains."

"Yay! I love going to the mountains!" Rydel said.

I finished my waffles, and then laid my head on Riker's shoulder. I'm still tired.

"Come on, sleepy head. We have to go pack," Riker said.

He put his arm lightly around me, and led me upstairs to our room.

"It's going to be kind of cold in the mountains, or at least a bit colder than it is here. So maybe you want to borrow some of my clothes for the trip?" He asked.

"Can I?"

"Yeah, of course you can. So... I guess I'll just pack for both of us," Riker said, laughing a little.

I laid down on Riker's bed.

"Wake me up when you're done," I said, closing my eyes.

"Fine," Riker said, sighing.

Later...

Riker POV

We were officially on our way to the mountains. I was super excited because dad usually gets us a cabin near a lake, so sometimes we can go swimming. It might be a little cold, but it's still fun. And we have campfires. I'm super excited to have Jeff with us!

"Mom, Rocky's annoying me!" Ryland whined.

"Rocky, stop annoying your brother," mom said.

"I have to go to the bathroom," Ross said.

"We'll get to a rest stop in 15 minutes," dad said.

Jeff sighed next to me.

"You ok?" I asked, quietly.
