Here it is! The first day of the first year of high school! I am going into grade 9 while my sister, Charlotte, is going into grade 12. Last week we went school supply shopping (AKA my favourite part of back to school) and the week before we went back to school clothing shopping. My mom always takes my sister and I for the clothes, while my dad take us for the school supplies. (My parents are divorced)
So I set about 7 alarms to make sure I don't get up late, even though my mom always wakes us up. You can never be too sure! Ah, the first day of grade nine I thought as I sprung up out of bed after I slept through all of my alarms (Oops). But my mom still woke me up at 6 o'clock so I guess it's not that bad. I got up, brushed my teeth, and ate breakfast. Yes I brush my teeth before breakfast, I heard it's bad for your teeth to brush them right after eating.
I went to my room to get ready for THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!!!! "YAY!", I say out loud. My sister Charlotte, who is obviously not as excited as me, groans, "Geez Elizabeth it's way to early for you to be excited." I retort, "Yeah well some of us like to be optimistic." If you are wondering why my sister and I are so rude to each other, you probably do not have a sibling.
"Anyway, aren't you even excited just a bit?" I ask, expecting to hear no. "Maybe a little bit, but mostly just to see my friends." She answers, with, more enthusiasm than expected. So I reply with exaggerated surprise, "Did THE Charlotte Winters just speak with ANY enthusiasm?! Colour me SURPRISED!"
Our mom yells from the kitchen, " I hope you two are getting ready!" We both say in unison, "We are!", give each other a knowing look, and rush into our rooms.
I already decided what I was going to wear today (I picked it out last night) :
• A light pinky peachy colour tee shirt that says on it: The Future is Now (I wore that because the future is now! I have the whole high school future ahead of me, get it? Anyway.)
• A black and white paisley pattern skirt
• My dark red converse
• A long panda necklace
• A shorter black necklace
• A Harry Potter themed bracelet
• A heart ring
• And for my hair, I just put it into a bun hairstyle.
I put on my makeup, and I don't like to wear a lot of makeup, mostly because I'm 13 years old, so I just wear some concealer, mascara, blush, face powder and lip gloss. During the summer and most school days I never wear makeup, but it's THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anywhoo, after I'm done getting ready, I make my bed, and leave my room. I grab my bag, walk into the kitchen to grab my lunch and put on my shoes.
Charlotte walks out of her room. I take a peak into her room- of course, she didn't make her bed. I silently chuckle at my sister's laziness, and then stop myself cause I am quite lazy too. Whatever. "Bye girls! Have fun at school! Don't be late!" , my mom says as she hugs us goodbye.
"Bye!" Charlotte and I both say as we walk out the door. Charlotte starts talking, "Are you excited for your first day of HIGH SCHOOL?! I can't wait for you to have all of my teachers! Ms. Smith, Mr. Oakshire, Mr. McRiley...", my sister was talking about all the teachers that she has had. So I reply with sarcasm, "SO excited!"
And I say that with sarcasm because those are all the teachers that Charlotte says are interesting. And by interesting she really means that they are kind of weird. But there is a difference between interesting and interesting when it comes to my sister. Interesting= interesting and Interesting= weird.
So we get to the bus stop, and talk about how I'm so excited and Charlotte is so NOT excited. Then the bus arrived. "Good luck!", we say to each other as we get on the bus. I sat in the middle part of the bus and Charlotte sat in the back. Here we go I think. First day of the first year.
