My first day of school is going swell until Tiana and Josie have to drop in on my (almost) perfect day. I don't want to deal with them. Honestly, I'm not surprised. They are just generally rude. But it's normally with nasty facial expressions. I didn't think that they would bother to star drama this year. That was really naive of me.
Since Natalie isn't here (she had just asked to go to the washroom), I turn around and talked to Olivia beside me. She's so nice! And I hope that we all get closer this year.
Mr. Oakshire then remembers, "OH NO! I forgot to give y'all you're schedules here you go!" He gave us our schedules.
"Now mingle amongst yourselves now that you can compare schedules on the Smartsnaps on your chat phones.", he says. Oh my goodness.
Right then Natalie walked in. The teacher gave her the schedule and we started comparing schedules. "YAY! We have all our classes together except for geography." I say with excitement. I'll have Natalie with me almost all day!
"So we have Science with Mr. Oakshire, French with Mme Glorée and gym with Ms. Brown together.", Natalie analyzed. We have science, then gym, french for third period, then geography with Ms. Mills last period. Then Tiana and Josie piped in. Great.
"Um what is your outfit?! You look like a 4 year old." Tiana mocked. The Josie chimes in, " Yeah, isn't this grade nine?" Ok, I thought this skirt looked fine. Also, are clothes all they make fun of? But since Tiana and Josie think that they rule the world, what they say goes in their minds.
"That's a little bit rude.", I say, trying to be diplomatic. But honestly it's very hard.
Natalie backed me up by saying, "Yeah, I don't think you should be so mean." Thanks Nat. I can always count on my friends to have my back.
"Aw, is the teacher's pet getting all her friends to fight her battles?", Tiana asks with a mock baby's voice. And I'm the one who looks like she's in kindergarten. Why do they have to pick on me? Just because I stood up to them? So immature. Still, I ignore them anyway.
And I do so for all of science class too, with Mr. Oakshire talking about how he took his dog and wife boating over the summer. And how his neighbor called him while he was in Montreal. "And I was thinking, I can't come to check on your house Jim, I'm not even home! And then he says to me, Well......", He droned on. Then the bell rang. "Have a good day!", I said to the teacher. "You too! Have a great first day kids!", he said to the class.
I was still in a great mood, even with the incident in homeroom. Off to second period, gym class!
I have Mrs. Brown for gym class. Charlotte said that she is kind of rude. Charlotte also said that Mrs. Brown does actual gym class on the first day of school. Great. Sweaty for the rest of the day. FUN! And thankfully, Fiona and Victoria are in the same gym class as Natalie and I! And turns out, we all have Gym and French together! I have science with only Natalie, and I have geography with only Victoria.
So we all go to our lockers to get our stuff for gym. We were all prepared and brought gym clothes just in case. So we were walking down to the gym, and Natalie and I filled Fiona and Victoria in on the whole homeroom situation.
"Ok when and where do I need to slap these girls?", Victoria asks and looks around for emphasis.
I reply "I appreciate it, but no slapping." I say that, but I could slap someone right now too.
What have you done to deserve that? You're always so nice. Just ignore them Ellie", Fiona reassures me. "Thanks."
We walked into the girls change rooms. We never use the stalls to change, cause we kinda just don't care and also there's no light in the stalls, and you end up putting your shirt on backwards half the time. So I start putting on my gym clothes and then I hear the dreaded voice of Tiana. Ugh. "Um I hope anyone who looks at Elizabeth is ok with looking at a twig.", she says, with a very rude tone to her voice.
Then Josie replies, "Tiana, don't be ridiculous." Huh? Is Josie being nice?
Then she continues, "A twig obviously has more curves than her."
Never mind. She was not being nice. At all. The thing that I've always been most self conscious about is my body type. I have less curves than a lamppost. But that's okay, cause I do what I've been doing all morning. Ignoring them. Man, this morning really is when things turned sideways. So the Four-mation walked into the gym. And into another problem.
