brain:
please remember the details of his shirt
how he sliced and how he burned
please take note of my friends' warm glows
how it feels to have a smile who knows
when the moon gaze down to promise
tonight i'll be gifted with a goodnight kiss
inside the water & outside the grey
i hope this warmth and loveliness will stay
clocks, soft touches, and metropolis lights
i embrace the colors of a hot summer night
& while we raise glasses to our youth & freedom
i pray i'll never forget how it feels to lay in your kingdom

my heart's gone mad, what to do with found matter?
when we became ice to sun i took the latter
and in the evening as i find solace in her color
finally, i understand how it feels to adore
to nurture and seek, & everything between
how it feels to cry glitter from an unbroken machine
when she speaks of cherishing and pride
& his words make me well inside
i watch the art of reality undress itself as a painting
waiting for the choruses of green leaves fainting
when he makes the eyes at me, & i come undone
my heart grows fonder over the canyons i've won

so goodbye good riddance, to a bright, bubbling sun
the shade will draw, the coats dragged back on
but i will remember the tingle of my hands
& the songs that made us dance
for they are what grew my new skin
& let my lungs breath from within
i learned what it felt like to love & love some more
to feel the yellow churning my born anew core

i'll say goodbye, but keep my brain open
the summer that lives on from a spring so broken
