Chapter 8

Cherie laid on her bed as she stared at the ceiling while colorful images played through her mind. Brody is in a mess? Does he miss me? Does he regret what he’s done? Should I forgive him? It’s only been a few weeks! Does he go out at night and spend time with another woman? Is he alright? Do I want to be a single woman again? Thoughts ran through her mind,

‘Oh dear.’ Cherie mumbled as she threw an arm over her eyes. Next an odd image came to mind, those hazel eyes with gray specks, that shaggy brown hair under that black mysterious helmet, that lean tanned body under that sexy motorbike jacket, those jeans that sculpted his nice derriere.

‘Oh brother. Cherie, stop it. What has gotten into you?’ Cherie squeezed her eyes tightly trying to rid those thoughts. However, that man- Blaze, sexy name too- would not rid itself. After many turns and tangles, Cherie finally managed to go to bed in the early morning, not until she decided she would go see Brody the next day.

It was seven am when Cherie woke up. She was exhausted from her sleepless night as she yawned and lazily got out of bed. She did her usual morning routine which was to shower, dress, do her hair and then her makeup. Once she was finished, it was already 7:45am. As she exited her bedroom to enter the kitchen, she saw David drinking his usual morning coffee with his newspaper. He looked up and gave Cherie a sad smile to which Cherie returned. Cherie couldn’t help but notice the awkward tension in the room as she made her coffee as well.

As she was about to exit the kitchen with her coffee and muffin, David spoke up,

‘Cherie?’

Cherie stopped but didn’t turn around.

‘Cherie, would you like to join me for breakfast before I leave for work? I want to apologize.’

Apologize? Really? Cherie turned around and looked at David and saw the regret and guilt pool his eyes. She took a deep breath and walked towards him and sat across from him.

David spoke first,

‘Cherie, I want to apologize for my rude manner last night. What I did and said was wrong, I should not have  blamed everything on you. I didn’t mean it. I was just frustrated and worried about Brody that I took everything out on you. I’m truly sorry Cherie and I hope you’ll be able to forgive me for my rude attitude last night.’

‘If it makes you feel any better, I’m going to see Brody later.’

‘It’d make me feel even better if you forgave me first.’ David cracked a small smile. Cherie smiled a small smile as well,

‘I forgive you, David.’ She rolled her eyes teasingly. David chuckled and got up to hug her,

‘Thanks Cher. Now wait' As David sat down again, he continued, ‘You’re going to see Brody?’

‘Yeah, it’s better late than never, right?’

‘When are you going? I could give you a ride to the office when I go to work in like 10 minutes.’ David offered as he checked his watch.

‘Uh… sure.’ She sighed.

‘I know it’s hard, Cher but you’ll get through this. Brody is hurting, you’re hurting, and it’s obvious you guys can’t live without each other.’

‘That’s not true. I don’t know, David I’m still so confused on what I should do. I’m just going to do what my mind says at the office when I see him. I haven’t planned out anything, I don’t even know if I’m forgiving him yet but I guess we’ll have to see.’

‘It’s usually the deepest pain which empowers you to grow to your full potential. Without pain, there would be no change.’

‘And I should remember that pain, just like everything else in life, because it is meant to be learned from and then released.’ Cherie added.
