No one wants a dumb beta

Yugyeom sat at the dining table, math book open, homework spilling out everywhere. He honestly had no idea what he was doing. It was just like everyone said.

Betas were dumb.

It wasn't about biology or anything. It was just stated in some online article that most betas weren't very smart. That they couldn't think for themselves and they didn't have big brains. Yugyeom was sure that he was like they said.

Footsteps caused him to look away from his book. Jinyoung looked as if he had just waken up but from the fresh hickeys on his neck he knew that wasn't true. He was either with Youngjae or Jaebum.

"Hey hyung." The brunette turned away from the fridge to look at the younger. He smiled softly at the boy, before making his way to his mate. He kissed the boy softly, ruffling his hair.

"Good afternoon Gyeomie. How's my baby?" The younger pouted, pointing down at his math book. He was getting frustaed that he couldn't understand. The hours that he spent studying and working meant nothing if he kept getting the wrong answers.

"I can't get anything right, hyung. I've been here for hours! I'm beginning to think I'm just stupid." Jinyoung frowned, sitting down beside the blonde.

"Don't say that baby. You're very smart." Yugyeom continued to pout. He didn't think he was smart at all. He hadn't been getting good grades this semester and if he didn't pass his next set of exams he would flunk out.

"I don't see how. I'm not getting anything right. Everything is all wrong." The older sighed, closing the boy's book and turning the chair toward him.

"Not everyone gets things right on their first try. How long to do you think it took Einstein to figure out E=mc^2 or Newton to state the laws of motion. They didn't just wake up one day and write it down, bug. It takes time to get the right answer." Yugyeom nodded slightly. Jinyoung was right. He was pushing himself to be smarter than he needed to be. If he just focused on what was important and slowed down he might be able to work through the problem.

"Now, why don't you tell me who said you weren't smart. I know you didn't come to that conclusion yourself, bug." The blonde blushed, looking down. Why were his mates so intuitive? They could always figure out what was wrong before he even knew it himself.

"Just the guys at school. They always say I'm a stupid beta." He could feel the pinprick of tears. Why did he always cry when saying this stuff to his mates. He knew that everything that the others said was true. He was just a stupid beta.

"Don't listen to those assholes. My baby isn't stupid. He's so smart." The brunette left a kiss to the top of his head. "And creative." Another kiss to his forehead. "And talented." He lifted the younger's head to kiss his nose. "And the most beautiful beta I've ever seen." He pressed a last kiss to Yugyeom's lips. The older kissed him softly almost as if he would break if he tried to be more forceful. He pulled away slightly, breath still blowing shortly across his lips. "My smart little beta."

Yugyeom honestly melt at Jinyoung's voice. It was so soft yet deep at times. It was super comforting and he loved that he never felt threatened when he used his deepest tones to talk to him. Maybe it was because he was an omega, but he had seen his hyung very angry before. Ripping the others a new and using his deep voice to put them in their place. Yet he had never used it on him. He was always so soft when it came to Yugyeom.

Everyone was soft when it came to Yugyeom.

"C'mon bug. You've worked hard enough. We're gonna watch movies. You can pick if you want." Yugyeom's eyes lit up. They barely let him pick movies cause he could never make up his mind. He liked all movies. He nodded, grabbing the older's hand and pulling him out of the kitchen. Jinyoung shook his head with a fond smile.

He really loved his beta.
