It was Thursday morning. Casey woke up to his alarm and noticed that gabby was still asleep. He gently shook her shoulder. "Hey baby, time for work." She turned around to face him. She smiled and looked deep into his blue eyes. She chuckled. "What?" Casey said. "The way you look at me, you get this twinkle in your eye," she said. "Well, I can tell you why," he said. "Please do," she whispered. "Okay. First, do you remember our wedding day?" He asked. "Babe, of course I do!" She said. "That first kiss we shared as husband and wife made my heart melt. It just felt so right. It felt like we could finally be comfortable around each other. Be each other's safe place. Love each other forever. I knew in that moment that we were gonna be together forever." Casey said as he wrapped his arm around her. She started to cry. "Damn Baby, you made me cry," she laughed. "I can fix that," he said with sass in his voice. "Oh yeah, how?" Gabby pleaded. He wrapped his other arm underneath her and kissed her. She didn't say anything as she kissed him back with so much love. Things were just starting to escalate when gabbys alarm went off. "Dang, we should continue sometime soon." Gabby cursed. "Hell yeah," Casey said with a big grin. He planted a kiss on her lips and climbed out of bed. She followed and they both got dressed and went to work. They walked in and were greeted by all their coworkers and a surprise welcome back party. "Oh my god, why all this guys?" Gabby said. "Because your the only gabby Dawson we will ever know, and we all love you." Hermann said. They had a fairly quiet shift and then, they got a dreaded call. "Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambo 61. Elementary school fire, 2400 west wabash."
