"Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten."

Chapter Twelve:

"Wanna dance?" I averted my eyes from Sam to Lewis who was holding his hand out to me.

I gave him a sweet smile. "Sure, why not." I lifted the glass to my lips swallowing it down in one gulp.

A waitress passed by and I set the glass on the platter she was holding.

"Be safe." Sam told me eyeing Lewis.

I smirked as I took Lewis's hand. "Now where's the fun in that?" Lewis led us to the dance floor where he rested his hand on my waist and the other interwined with mines. I rested my hand on his shoulders as we swayed to the music.

"You look.. stunning." He complimented swinging me out.

When I swung back in I gave him a small smile. "You look handsome."

He bit down on his lip. "Didn't take you as the one to give compliments."

"Didn't take you as the one to dance, but here we are."

He looked into my eyes, sadness swarming in his. "I'm sorry about Axel."

I clenched my teeth together putting on a forced smile. "Thanks."

We danced to two more songs making small talk. Some times we were serious, other times we were joking about the people around us.

I lifted up my eyes scanning around the room until my eyes landed on him.

Theo.

I watched as he shook hands with a group of people, then rose up walking away.

He buttoned up his suit as he walked up the stairs. The hatred I had for him now, you would've never known that a few years ago he was the love of my life.

He was my first. My first everything. My first love, the first person I made love to.

No matter how much I hated him, I couldn't deny that he was the most attractive person I laid eyes on. He gave off the bad boy vibe that I loved so much.

And like most girls the good girl fell for the bad boy, even though I wasn't all that good but I was still good.

"Ally" A pair of fingers started snapping in my face. "Hellurr you still there?"

I turned my attention back to Lewis. "Yeah sorry I just sorta zoned out."

He looked at me with concern as he studied my face. "You sure you alright?"

I gave him an assuring smile. "Yeah, of course."

My eyes wandered back to Theo, I looked around him for anyone guarding him. He was alone all his guards seemed to be down here.

It was now or never.

When I pulled away my eyes locked with Sam's, I gave him a small smile with a apologetic look.
