Fourteen

Raelynn couldn't believe what she was looking at. Everything that she had worked so hard to build was destroyed. Shredded into nothing, like it wasn't worth a damn thing. She felt the tears spring to her eyes as despair filled her, but it was soon replaced with rage. How dare he come into her home and violate her and her belongings.

"Oh RayRay." Raelynn turned to find Ashley and Sebastian standing in the doorway behind her. Ashley had her hands covering her mouth as tears flooded down her cheeks, eyes red. Beside her Sebastian stood impossibly still but Raelynn could see the fury in his eyes. He looked her in the eyes then and for a moment she saw a blood thirsty look, both frightening and soothing her. Her boiling blood slowly cooled, and she took in a deep breath when suddenly a loud banging sound came from the bedroom. Raelynn turned instantly, standing in front of Ashley, handgun out and ready to fire.

"Stay here Ashley." Raelynn and Sebastian said at the same time. They looked at each other for a moment, Raelynn noticing the 9mm in his hand, before walking towards the bedroom. Chip followed behind them silently, his fur up as he growled low in his throat. Sebastian went to the door and Raelynn nodded. He turned the knob and pushed the door wide open. Chip ran into the room as Raelynn stepped in immediately noticing the figure halfway out the window on the fire escape. The figure turned its head and smiled wickedly, before turning and jumping out and down the fire escape. Chip charged, snarling and growling fiercely.

Raelynn ran to the window, looking out to find he was already sliding down to the ground and running off.

"Damnit!" she cursed, punching the wall beside her. She holstered her weapon and pulled out her phone dialing her friend from the police department.

"Raelynn?" Randy answered.

"Randy, he found me. Broke into my apartment and destroyed everything." There were a string of curses on the other side of the phone.

"I'm on my way."

"Thanks."

The police had just finished questioning them and photographing the apartment while Sebastian stood in the background, his eyes following Raelynn without fail. Ashley came up to him.

"She's not going to disappear, you don't have to watch her like a hawk." She said, a giggle in her voice. He looked at her and she sobered up quickly, sighing.

"She is being very strong through all of this, don't you think?" she asked as she looked to her friend. Raelyn was talking to the officer that she had called when Matthew slipped through their fingers an hour ago. Her face was calm but her body was rigid, a hidden rage beneath the surface.

"Yeah." Was his only response.

He watched as Raelynn spoke to the officer, a tall blond man with handsome enough features to be a problem. Then he watched as the officer leaned down and hugged her tightly to himself. His hands were at her hips, dangerously close to her bottom. Sebastian felt a growl surface and Ashley jumped.

"Easy there, down boy, it's just a hug."

"Not to him." Sebastian said as he pushed off the wall and walked towards the, still hugging, pair.

"Raelynn." She jumped and turned to him then, smiling softly. 'Randy' did not share the same feelings. Sebastian gave him a tight smile as the officer glared at him. Sebastian ignored him and turned to Raelynn.

"We should pack whatever you can salvage and get you settled so you can rest before the week begins."

"Right." She said, nodding, then turned to her bedroom. Ashley followed behind her as they disappeared into the room. Sebastian turned to follow when the officer spoke up.

"And who are you? I've only seen Ashley with Ray." He said gruffly. Sebastian looked at him and raised a brow at him.

"Sergeant Davidson. Ashley's older brother. And you are?" Sebastian put out his hand.

"Officer Randy Duncan." the officer took it gripping his hand too much, trying to show his dominance. Sebastian chuckled inside as he tightened his grip, lips tilting in joy as he watched the man wince. He let his hand go and watched Raelynn and Ashley walk out of the room with a duffel bag in hand. Raelynn came up to them and smiled at Randy.

"Thank you for coming and helping with the report Randy, I appreciate it." She said as she reached up to hug him once more, almost earning another growl from Sebastian. Randy looked at him over Raelynn's shoulder and smirked.

"Of course, Ray. Any time." He said. Sebastian glared at him and reached over, grabbing the duffel bag in one hand and hooking his free arm around Raelynn's waist, pulling her away from the officer.

"Come on Raelynn, let's get you to the house and away from this." He said, pulling her close to him.

"O-oh, okay. Bye Randy and thank you again." She said, before Sebastian turned and walked them out of the apartment, Ashley, and Chip in tow.

Raelynn sat in the back seat of the truck her mind muddled as she watched buildings passing by. Chip whined softly, nudging his snout under her arm and she turned to him, kissing his head and petting him.

"Good boy, Chip."

She looked up then and spoke.

"Thank you for helping me with this. I won't over stay my welcome, I'll find a new apartment as soon as I can."

"Nonsense RayRay, you are welcome to stay as long as you'd like. Honestly, I'd rather you stay until the man is in prison." Ashley said. Raelynn smiled and leaned forward, hugging her from around the seats.

"Thank you, Ashley, I can't thank you enough for your kindness." She said, kissing her cheek before leaning back as Sebastian pulled the truck into the garage. They all hopped out and walked into the house as Ashley turned with a smile on her face.

"Let me show you to your room." She said happily as Raelynn followed her up the stairs and to the end of the hall. She opened a door revealing a large guest bedroom with a fluffy queen-sized bed against the wall in the middle of the room. A flat screen was mounted to the wall directly in front of it. The walls were cream colored and pretty blue furniture accented the room. Chip ran into the room and onto the bed, tongue lolling as he smiled that toothy dog grin.

"That door to the left is and attached bathroom and to the right is a walk-in closet. I'll let you get settled." She said, closing the door behind her. Raelynn turned to Chip.

"Time to unpack." She said.

Later that night Raelynn woke up with the urge to pee. She untangled herself from the soft blankets and Chip. She entered the restroom, noticing then that there was another door on the other side of the bathroom. Curious she went to it and turned the knob. It was unlocked. She opened the door slowly, finding a pitch black room. She noticed a figure in the bed and, against her better judgement, made her way over to him. She stood beside her then, noticing then that he didn't where a shirt, his impeccable abs on full display from his position on his back. One arm was slung behind his head, his biceps obvious as his strong chest rose and fell with ease. The sheets covered his waist but the V cut of his stomach was prominent and mouth-watering.

For the first time in her life Raelynn felt an unnerving attraction towards a man. Of course, it had to be her best friend's brother. Without realizing it Raelynn's hand was reaching out to lay softly on his abs, the skin hard and smooth at the same time. And warm, very warm. She let out a shaky breath and shook her head hard.

"What am I doing?" she whispered to herself as she pulled her hand away and turned to leave.

Suddenly she felt his hand grab hers and she gasped in shock. Her head turned back to him to see his piercing gaze pointed directly at her as he smiled.

"And where do you think you're going?"
