Carlisle and Esme Cullen were reading quietly outside, the battle between their coven and the wolves against Victoria's army. A flash of red caught Carlisle's attention – he threw his book on the ground and sped after it, the scent feeling almost too familiar to the old vampire.
Carlisle looked around him but couldn't see anything.

"Carlisle?" Esme called out. Carlisle caught a glimpse of charcoal black eyes and his eyes widened.

"Bridie." He whispered wanting to step closer but Esme sped in front of him and grabbed his face in her hands.

"Carlisle are you okay?" She asked worriedly. The blond vampire nodded and sighed.

"I heard you say her name." Esme's eyes lowered to the ground and Carlisle pulled her in to a hug. "I miss her too." She added.

"I thought I saw her..." Carlisle trailed off, feeling disappointed that he had let his imagination get to him.

"Honey, I'm sure this is just your way of trying to cope?" He looked down at his wife and nodded, sighing. Esme grabbed his hand and pulled him back to the direction of the house. Carlisle looked behind him where he thought he saw Bridie but there was no one there– no footprints and not even a scent left behind. It was like she just vanished...or she was never there in the first place.

When Carlisle and Esme entered their home, the family was gathered in the living room with Carter standing in the middle of the room. Edward and Bella were the only ones missing.

"Carlisle, Esme, glad you could grace us with your presence." He smirked, watching the couple look at their family in confusion.

"Carter has decided to help us– he wants to fight against Victoria with us." Rosalie explained.

"You're very correct, love." Carter grinned in his British accent. "I want Victoria dead because she has tried to kill me three times before, not to mention that my sister has also almost been killed by them once as well." Carter explained.

"Your sister?" Carlisle asked confused.

"Olivia– small thing. She's dead though, much like your beloved Bridie." Carter replied in a solemn tone.

"Our condolences." Emmett spoke up, clapping Carter on the shoulder.

"Cheers mate." Carter smiled weakly at Emmett. Oh how he was enjoying this very much. "I'd like to assist your coven in the take down of Victoria's army, for myself and on behalf of my sister." Carter offered. Carlisle smiled and nodded.

"We would be very happy to have your assistance in this. It won't be easy- the newborns are more wild than they'll ever be in their lives and I need to know that you'll have our backs if we need you." Carter nodded.

"You can count on me and I'm sure I can count on you guys."
