One of the many experiences that all humans face that has remained a mystery throughout all these years are dreams. Science has made great progress in deepening our understanding of dreaming. But still, there is no answer to the question, Why do we dream? Ever since we were little kids, our parents would kiss us goodnight and wish for us to have sweet dreams, and we'd close our eyes hoping to dream of unicorns and rainbows, to dream of our own little fairytale in our own little kingdom. And growing up, we are more likely to feel ready to start our day as soon as we wake up from a great dream, and face our reality of whatever it is. Eventhough man may never know why humans dream, or what our dreams even truly mean, but still, we dream, whether good or bad, of different situations or the same. But for Kerres, the dream she had had for the past few years, and the one she was dreaming of at the moment, the same dream she'd always had all these years, was nothing but sweet. It wasn't a dream, it was a nightmare. The same recurring nightmare she had had for the past five years.
Running through a dark secluded alley, Kerres could hear herself panting . She could feel her heart ramming against her chest from lack of air and, from fear. She didn't know where she was headed, like all those times she had ran down the same dark alley in her dream, nor did she have any idea where she was, or why she was running, or what or who she was running from. All she knew was that she had to run and never look back. So she ran and ran, getting more anxious by the minute as the dark alley never seemed to end, until she was welcomed by a completedead end. Like all the times her desparate self tried to survive, she turned to look for another way but all she saw was the darkness of the night getting thicker and swallowing up the whole alley, her heart raced and rammed against her chest loud enough for her own ears to hear, but she had no idea why. Suddenly a strong force threw her against the hard concrete wall. Her breath hitched and her knees felt weak as she tried to get ahold of herself. She breathed heavily, trying to swallow the pain she felt throughout her body. In a second, she heard the sound of footsteps running but she couldn't tell from where they came. Pushing herself she tried to get up, but it was in vain. That was when she suddenly noticed the thick pool of blood she was laying on. Her hands trembled in sudden fear and her eyes opened wide in shock at the sight of the familiar warm red liquid. In the blink of an eye, a knife was placed in her bloody hands and she was frozen in place. She stared at the bloody knife in her hand, too scared to even move. The all too familiar kitchen knife in her hand left her drowning in cold sweat, the pain throbbing throughout her body and the horror and terror of seeing the knife seemed to drain all the energy she had left in her. Suddenly, the footsteps got louder and louder, and she felt herself losing consciousness little by little. She wanted to scream but her whole body felt too weak and she couldn't let out even a single squeak. On the verge of completely losing her consciousness, she heard her name being called out, faint but clear. Her eyes searched through the dark but she saw no one.
"Kerres! "
As if she just came back from the dead, Kerres took in a sharp breath as she abruptly opened her eyes, welcomed by Mark's face who seemed concerned that she was drowning in cold sweat, again. Seeing not just Mark but everyone in the house except for Jin confused the hell out of her, not to mention that she just realized that she had completely fallen asleep after playing a few rounds of video games with Jungkook. Remembering the guy, she looked around and saw him next to her, also slowly coming to his senses, passed out on the massage chair next to hers.
"What's going on? What are you guys all huddled up like that for? "
Jungkook's hoarsed voice sounded a few octaves deeper than his usual voice. Rubbing the sleep evident in their eyes away, the two confused people just looked at the other six who had filed inside the gaming room, looking a little anxious at three in the morning.
" Do you guys happen to know where the other three are? "
Hoseok asked as he stepped inside the room. The rush in his voice and his furrowed brows left the two unsettled.
