Chapter 30: The Man {Gavin}

"Danica! Wake up!" Rion cried. I'd just finished changing into a pair of my clean pants. I held up the ones I had changed out of and admired how epic the whipped cream mark was. It covered up most of the backside of my jeans. God. How do you get a shot like that? At least she missed my jacket.

I guessed I should check out what Zeus's boy was wailing about. Don't want Bratboy getting upset. He might tell his daddy.

I gathered up my sticky clothes and threw them in the washer in the next door room. I had changed into a green shirt (of course) and an alternate pair of jeans. I studied the roots of my hair in the large bathroom mirror. Hey were getting lighter, and at the very roots of them, you could see a tiny bit of blinding white. My hair needed to be dyed again. Oh, the hair dye. The thin chemical that conceals my inner person; a worker as old as time.

Sometimes, I wonder why I'm close friends with a bunch of fourteen and fifteen year olds. God, they're idiots. But hey, they're pretty darn smart for a bunch of Freshmen.

I skipped down the winding staircase, certain that I was going to have to deal with something serious, as always. Of course, I was right.

"Dude I left to change and in ten minutes, you managed to trash the kitchen, each other, and now I see Danica either dead or unconscious. I seriously hope she's just unconscious," I said. It's amazing what these kids are capable of. "She's fine. What happened?" I checked her pulse, temperature, and is she was breathing while Rion talked.

"We were just messing around, ask Calvin and Ieo. We were just flinging batter and frosting at each other then I slung her over my shoulder," he ranted.

"He had her on his shoulder and started spinning around like he was looking for her all like 'do you know where she went?' and 'have you seen Danica?' Then she just passed out, I guess," Calvin said in a much calmer tone.

"Wow, okay. So you were just flinging food, and you just slung her over your shoulder, and she just passed out?" I asked, putting great emphasis on just. "You guys say it like it happens every day."

"Would you like us to explain it in rushed panic? Would that help you? Because we can do that too," Calvin said. I rolled my eyes. Danica was fine actually; she was breathing, pulse was good, temperature was normal, and she was breathing fine. Basically, she was just sleeping.

"She's alive and well. She's just sleeping very deeply," I diagnosed. She was perfectly fine and well. What could have made her go to sleep? "I suppose you have a side to the story too, huh Ieo? Ieo?" She was just sitting in the

"Are you okay? Hello, Earth to Charome." I waved my hand in front of her blank, staring face. She was staring lifelessly at something in front of her. She wasn't talking  or moving. She was just sitting there, in the wooden chair of the dining table, staring. Her Archxiton eyes blank of any emotion and flickering patterns to show emotion.

"Is she okay?" Calvin inquired. I peered into her empty eyes, searching for a sign of distress, fear, or something. There was nothing to be found.

Ieo's eyes suddenly changed color. I don't mean the way it usually does, with her Archxiton eyes, but they just went full on white. Her entire eyeball just went a milky white. I could barely make out the outline of her irises behind the heavy fog-like layer over them.

Oh okay, sure. Go all cursed on me because why not, right?

"Calvin, you better go check on Digna. I think she's in her room. If something's wrong with her to, bring down here," I said. Don't panic, don't panic, don't panic I thought. Of course I wanted to panic, who wouldn't? But If I panicked, it wouldn't help. The layer of smoke over Ieo's eyes looked like they were moving. Like clouds moving across the sky as I watched them drift through a reflection in still water.[J1]
