The following day i woke up with a wicked hangover. I immediately popped some pills i grabbed off my nightstand to get rid of this raging headache, I sat up and took big deep breaths.
Then my phone started to ring, i lift up the blankets and try to locate my phone with the sound, i finally found it a second before it would stop.
"Hello? Hello?" i say thinking the call didn't go through.
"Hi, Honey!" my mother says in a mom kind of voice.
"What's up Mom?" i say, rubbing my temple.
My Mom is Cora Brooks, she is what a mom should look like and all the better, she had short curly brown hair and white glasses she wears to read. She wears old people clothes too and rarely goes shopping. I guess people could call her old school, but that's my mom.
"Well i was wondering if you wanted to grab brunch with Brea and me?" she pleads.
"Um," i thought about it for a moment and agreed to go out with them,"Why not."
"Oh goody i'll see you in an hour, meet us at Tony's Cafe on fourth street!" she says hanging up the phone.
Getting brunch with my mother? What could go wrong? I thought to myself as i sat on my bed, thinking about my outfits i have in my closet so i wouldn't have to get up. I pictured my black leggings and a creme long sleeve i have in my closet, i get up and walk over and open the sliding doors. I pulled out the clothes and slipped them on. I decided i was going to wear vans today. I don't think i could take another day wearing heels. I decent the ladder making my way to the kitchen counter where i grabbed a yogurt out of the fridge. I begin eating it as i'm walking out the door to my car.It took me fifteen minutes to get to the Cafe and then i pulled into a parking spot. Again, i forgot to put on makeup. I pull the mirror from the top of the car down, I grab my foundation and touched up my face. As i'm looking in the mirror, i see a bluish black spot on my shoulder. I pulled my shirt down a little and see a bruise about an apple size big. What the hell? Before i could think about it, Brea was knocking on my car window and i quickly pull my shirt back up.
I opened my door and stepped out when Brea gave me a hug.
"OMG i missed you so much can you please move back in," she begged.
I laughed, "well i miss you too Brea, where's mom?" i say scanning the surroundings.
"She went to park the car," she says looking at me
"Oh okay, how's school? Are you dating anyone?" i say walking to the front of the cafe.
"Same old same old i guess, and no i'm not," she says following me.
"Do you have any interests at least?" i say looking at her
"Well there is this guy but i don't know," she says looking down.
"You are Brea Brooks! You can get any guy you'd like!" i say nudging her.
My mother finally walks up and proceeds us inside where a waitress asked how many we were seating. My mother responded with three and the waitress guided us to a booth in the corner of the restaurant. We sat down, Brea chose to sit by me and mom sat at the opposite side.
"Thank you," my mother says to the waitress and she nods walking away. Right as my mother was about to say something my phone started ringing.
"Sorry," i said picking up my phone. I look at the caller ID and it was my Uncle Brian. I didn't feel like talking to him right now so i declined the call and put my phone on silent.
"Well? Who was it?" Brea asked leaning over to my phone. I tried turning it off before she'd seen but i don't know if she saw that it was our uncle.
"This guy from work, we hung out yesterday and i think he wants to hang today so i'll probably give him a call after this," i say looking at Brea.
"I didn't know you were talking to someone?" my mother asks.
"It hasn't been long, i really don't know him that well."
"Well don't be rude! Call him back right now and invite him to come eat with us!" my mother says.
I pick up my phone again and start dialing Sutton, i didn't feel like arguing with mother. I put the phone to my ear when i hear,
"Hello Anastasia!" Sutton says loudly.
"Hi, i'm sorry i just missed your call," i say to him trying to tell him to play along.
"Oh, i didn't—
I then coughed really loudly,
"Oh that's okay, what's up?" he inquired.
"My mother wants you to join us for brunch, come it'll be fun.. we are at Tony's Cafe on fourth, be here" i say hanging up the phone. I look at my mom and back at Brea,
"Well? Is he coming," my mother questioned.
"Yep! He's coming," i say scratching the back of my neck. We waited a couple minutes and i told them about Sutton and how we met. My Uncle Brian keeps trying to call me but i keep declining. He's called at least ten times since we've been at the cafe.
