Losing My Mind

Chapter 1

It was the week before Charlie had to leave for tour and we were doing our usual texting.

Me: Hey what's up?

Charlie: Nothin, I have rehearsal later today so im just hangin out rn. You know, I'm so excited for this tour but I'm gonna miss home so much.

Me: We're all really gonna miss you too! <3

Charlie: Hey what r u doing rn?

Me: Sitting watching Friends lol why

Charlie: Wanna meet for coffee before I have to go to rehearsal

Me: Sure! I'd love that

Charlie: I'll pick u up in 20

Me: See you soon!

After we were done texting I quickly got ready to go. I got dressed in my favorite ripped skinny jeans and a striped shirt.

I brushed my teeth and put my hair up into a messy bun just as Charlie texted me that he was waiting outside.

I slipped into my favorite Steve Madden sneakers and walked outside and stepped into his red Hyundai. He already had the radio blaring when I stepped inside.

We didn't talk much in the car, but we both sang along to all the music on the radio. It was a short 8 minute drive to the cafe so we only listened to a few songs.

When we got to the shop I went to save a table while Charlie ordered for the both of us. He remembered my order since it was the same one I got everyday on the way to school.

We started talking, just small talk. It was kind of awkward, I wasn't sure why since we have been best friends forever, but I just shook it off.

"So what have you been up to" he asked me casually.

"Nothin' much" I replied "I've been working a lot and hanging out at the pool most of the time"

This kind of talk continued for almost an hour. We talked about everything we did between the time we hang out last and right now. We talked about our future plans and got talking about the week.

"So, are you doing anything this week?" Charlie asked.

"Nope. I'm free the rest of the week. I took it off work."

"Well, it' the last week before I leave for tour and there's a party at my friend Calum's house tomorrow night."

"Oh, yeah? That should be fun." I responded waiting for an invitation.

"Yeah I'm excited! He said I could bring a plus-one...and I was wondering if you might want to come with me? A sort of last hoorah before I have to go."

"Yeah! I'd love to go with you. Sounds fun!"

"Sweet! I'll pick you up at 8. And don't worry Calum's girlfriend is cool, I think you'll really like her."

"Well I can't wait." I said even though I was a little worried. I was never the best at making friends.

After we were finished talking and drinking our coffee we headed out. We spent the ride home just like the way there, blasting music with the windows down.

Charlie parked at my house and walked me to my door, confirming our plans for tomorrow. After I went inside I watched him pull his car forward a few feet and in front of his house.

I spent the rest of the night trying to find an outfit and wondering who this Calum kid was and what tomorrow's party would have in store...
