Losing My Mind

Chapter 2

I woke up the next day at 8 am. I got right out of bed and went downstairs to the kitchen to make chocolate chip pancakes, my favorite breakfast meal.

While I sat eating my pancakes I scrolled through my Instagram feed and noticed all the fun things all my friends have been doing, while I just sit at home all the time in my pajamas.

After sulking around for almost an hour I went upstairs and decided that I would try and find an outfit for tonight's party. Well...I really just ended up laying in bed for 2 hours watching Netflix.

But, after those 2 hours, I decided it was really time I find something to wear.

I had no idea what to where. I had no idea what kind of party this was. I didn't know any of the people that would be there besides Charlie.

I sorted through all my clothes and thought. I could wear a nice dress? Jeans? A skirt? and what kind of top do I wear? What do people wear to parties? I obviously don't get invited to many parties.

After lots of deliberation, I decided on a pair of dark ripped jeans, a nice tank top, some simple jewelry, and my favorite black booties.

By now it was noon and I thought it was time for lunch. I wasn't very hungry so I just decided to stop my Panera and pick up a soup. I sat alone at a table eating when I heard my phone chime. It was a text from Charlie.

Charlie: Ready for the party?

The party was not for almost 8 hours, but he always liked to check in. Nonetheless I took this opportunity to try and find out more about the party.

Me: Yeah, just out for lunch rn. So can you tell me anything about the party tonight...or like who's even throwing it.

Charlie: o, right. well it's at my friend Calum's house, ig i already told you that. he's a good friend of mine and he's in a band too. so it'll be his band and some of their girlfriends and just whoever they invite

Me: very specific...

Charlie: You know just as much as I do lol, I'll see you later I gotta go

Me: kk see you tonight.

After I finished eating I packed up and drove home. I showed, blow dried my hair, and decided to get dressed for the party just so I'd be ready.

I still had time before the party so of course, you guessed it, I layed in bed and watched Netflix.

At 8 o'clock Charlie texted me and told me he was here so I slipped into my boots and ran outside and into his car. The car ride was only about 10 minutes, but I could feel myself getting more and more nervous the closer we got.

I was scared that nobody would like me, but also anxious to meet everybody.

Once we arrived, Charlie got out of the car first and came around to open the door for me. He was always such a gentleman.

We walked up to the front door together and Charlie opened the door and we walked right in. There weren't too many people there, but still enough to make me nervous.

Calum greeted us right away "CHARLIEE! What's up my man!"

I didn't realize how good of friends they were, they bro hugged for a second before Charlie introduced me.

"Nothin' man! This is my friend Lauren." Charlie said motioning to me as Calum came in for a hug.

"Thanks for inviting me!" I responded, I couldn't think of anything else. Not a second later another girl came out and put her arm around Calum. I assumed it must be his girlfriend, and I wasn't wrong.

"This is my girlfriend Hallie" Calum said. Before I could say anything Charlie and Calum had wandered off together and I was left alone with this stranger Hallie.

"I'm Lauren" I said shyly.

"Well I guess Calum already introduced me, but I'm Hallie. Nice to meet you Lauren! I've heard so much about you!"

"Really?" How did she hear about me?

"Yeah! Calum is always telling me about how much Charlie talks about you."

"Hm, interesting" I brushed off her comment and we walked through the living room and into the kitchen to get something to drink.

After we got our drinks we walked toward another girl with long brown hair. I didn't recognize her but I figured Hallie would introduce her soon enough.

"This is Megan, Megan this is Lauren" she said finally.

"Nice to meet you Lauren" Meghan replied.

"You as well!"

We spent the next hour or so chatting about life and how we ended up there. We talked about relationships, mostly Hallie's relationship. She loved to talk about Calum, a lot. I found out that Megan was dating a guy named Luke.

The two girls talked more about their boyfriends band, called 5 Seconds of Summer and they let me listen to some of their music. Then it got to my turn to share. They bugged me about my life and my relationships.

"So how long have you and Charlie been together?" Hallie asked.
