Taking deep, ragged breaths, Jordan opened his eyes. His entire body hurt, and he felt cold, like he hadn't felt warm in years. Where was he? He looked around, and it all came rushing back. The vampires. They'd got to him. And his sister, and his girlfriend... Where were they?!

Grace had managed to sit up, leaning against a wall as she clutched her neck. "Were we turned?" She gasped out, biting her lip. "I still feel my pulse, though... so we can't have."

"Oh my God you're okay. You're both okay." Jordan looked over at his sister who was waking up. "Thank... Whoever that woman was," he whispered, crawling, pained, over to his girlfriend and hugged her tightly, then went to his sister to do the same.

"What did she mean by 'a new era'?" Selene asked as they pulled away from the hug. "A new era where Vampires don't rule the world? How could the three of us do anything to stop it? We can't kill them all."

"Yes but she must have given us something to help kill them. Maybe they can't touch us anymore?" Grace said thoughtfully, "hey. I'm not in as much pain! Maybe our bodies are healing faster than normal? If it's not just me, of course."

Now that she had said something, Jordan had noticed that, yes, he wasn't in as much agony as before.

"Heeelllo human." A small, slithery voice in his head hissed. "H-holy—" he broke off with a gasp. "There's something in my head."

"M-mine too." Grace whimpered. Serene only nodded before asking, "what is it? It... speaks."

"As you and I both get stronger and get to know eachother better,, we shall be able to communicate more intricately. But for now, let's just know the basics. Name of human I am occupying? All youuu have to do is think." The little voice in his head spoke, slurring some of his words. Now that it had 'heard' his voice, it vaguely resembled his own, creepily enough.

Jordan Revera. Yours and what are you? Jordan thought, hoping it worked like the voice said it did.

"You name me. I am your beast after all. But, to answer the 'what am I' question, we'll have to wait and see. I won't know until the blood moon glows high in the sky. It will be differenttt for your friends."

Well since you speak? Like you're slurring... I'll call you slithers. For now, at least. Until we find out what you are. Jordan decided, hoping it would fit.

"Whoever or whatever she is, she's very sassy." Grace huffed, "she doesn't like answering my questions."

"I named him Razz." Selene purred, "he's so sweet." The voice in her head was a male. How was that possible? She was for sure female. Whoever that was, she worked in mysterious ways; who were they to question a deity who brought them back from the claws of death?

"When did your voices say that we would find out what they are?" Jordan asks curiously. "Mine said on the blood moon."

"Mine said when the bell tolls for the fifth time on the fifth night of the fifth month... strange." Grace grumbled.

"Mine said... um. He doesn't know. No—wait. Er," she seemed to zone out for a moment before continuing. "At the twin peaks."

"Well then, Grace's will be the first to happen—whatever it is. Then yours. Selene, and then mine. I... don't know when the blood moon is." Jordan shook his head, brown curly hair bouncing slightly as he did so.

"Right. So that's in um, a few days? I've lost track of the time, who knows what day it is now." Grace sighed. "We won't know til we ask someone. Speaking of which, we need to get out of this alley before another blood-sucker comes snooping about."

The trio nodded in agreement, and Jordan managed to get up. He leaned down to help the two girls up and took a deep breath of the night air. He looked up at the moon, and bit his lip as he could swear that he saw a slight tint to it; it was just a claw scratch in the sky, but... something was coming. Something big.
