Chapter 7

Warmth contrasts the cold as I get defrosted. I don't know how long it's been since they put me in here. It could have been days, week, months, or years. I slowly open my eyes but everything seems hazy. Then I hear an explosion go off, but I don't react, I just look around lazily. "Kat! Kat, can you hear me?" Someone calls out. I know that voice... Suddenly someone is standing in front of me and taking off the straps that are keeping me standing. "B-Bucky?" I ask, he looks into my eyes. "Yeah, it's me Kat. I'm getting you out of here." He tells me. All the straps are off and I fall forward into him. He wraps his arms around me and I look over his shoulder. Soldiers are coming towards us guns raised. "Brace!" I order, then push Bucky back and he stumble onto the ground and almost falls over, but keeps his balance. Three bullets hit me, but don't penetrate me. My armor is bullet proof, so they just fall to the floor. Even if they did penetrate me, I would heal quickly enough. I glare at them, tilt my head to the side, and they all go up in flames, then fall to the ground. "What the hell? We need to go!" Bucky yells. Weakly, I climb off the platform and my hairbrushes over my arm. There's still ice in it, but it's gotten longer. It goes down to my tailbone. The other Avengers are here, even Thor and... Is that Loki? Dozens more agents run in with powerful weapons. I flick both my hands, and two black, long blades appear in my hand. My strength is coming back quickly now, so I'm able to fight. "Let's go!" I yell, the run towards the fight. Three agents come to me, and three to Bucky. They won't try and kill me because they want me alive. I knock the gun out of one of the guys hands, then slit his throat. As for the other two, I kick one hard enough I break his ribs and puncture his lungs and he goes flying into a wall. As I'm fighting the last one and Bucky is fighting the others that came up, another agent comes up behind me and stabs a long blade right through an area that doesn't have armor covering it. "NOO!" Bucky yells. I have the guy in front of me by the neck, so I crush it, then drop him on the floor. Whoever is behind me digs the blade in farther and I grunt as blood pours out of my mouth. I turn around and the guys was David. "You should know that won't work. I fling the blade out and it lands on the ground behind me with a clang. I can already feel my body healing. His face goes from smug to terrified. I flick my wrists and two black swords appear in my hands. I stab them through David in an X formation and lift him into the air, all while looking him in the eye. "This is for torturing me!" I yell, then split the blades to the side. It almost cuts him in half but it doesn't. He falls to the floor, and I focus some of my energy on him so he won't die and he'll be in antagonizing pain for a while. I then stab one of my swords through his leg. Bucky watched everything that happened while also fending of attackers. Bucky kill one guy, then 20 other surround us in a big circle. The other Avengers have scattered out, so it's only Bucky and I in the cryo room now. Bucky and I go back to back and spin in a slow circle. "Drop your weapons!!" A soldier yells. "You should drop yours!" I retort. "On my signal, duck, okay?" I whisper to Bucky. "You made one mistake by experimenting that serum on me. You made me powerful enough to destroy you with a thought." I call out. "Now!" I yell. Bucky ducks and I let out a huge blast of energy with the force of an atomic bomb, but it will only affect what I want it to. When the light fades, Bucky stands up and looks around. The soldiers that were surrounding us are now embedded in the cement walls and floors, some are still alive, others aren't, and some are just charred skeletons with melted guns in their hands. "How did you do that?" Bucky asks. "Long story. Let's get the hell out of here!" I exclaim, then Bucky and I run out of the room in search of the others. We find them in the room where I was fighting the recruits before I was froze. Bucky and I spent a lot of time in this room, he just doesn't remember. "We need to leave! Now!" Bucky says into an earpiece. He listens as someone responds. "Yes I have Kat, but we need to leave before they call backup." He says. Before we leave I wanted to go the the tech room and download all their info, future plans, and info about Bucky and I, new and old. So without warning, I take off in the direction of the Tech room. "Kat! Wait!" Bucky yells, then chases after me. We run through the maze of halls, occasionally having to take out a few soldiers. Before we get to the room I stop. "What is it?" Bucky asks. If I go in like this, they'll immediately wipe the hard drive." I tell him. When I shape shift it looks like scales turning over on my body. I shape shift into David and Bucky just stares at me dumbfoundedly. I put a hand up to tell him to wait here, then go inside. "Colonel Kartive!" One of the men says, and stands at attention. "At ease. I'm here to save our info before they can." I tell them. They relax and I walk up to them. There's two in here. I punch on in the throat and kick the other back. The one I kicked falls over a chair and onto the floor, but he'll be up any second. I pick up the other guy and throw him into the ceiling. The light shatters and he falls back onto the floor, unconscious. The other guys gets up and gets in a fighting stance. "Who are you?" He asks. I change back into myself. "Hi." I smile at him, then grab his head and slam it into the wall. The cement breaks and he falls to the floor as blood starts pooling around his head. "You can come in!" I call out to Bucky. The door opens and Bucky comes in. "Holy crap." He says. I walk over to the computer, put my hand on the hard drive and start downloading everything. There's video footage of them injecting me with the test serum, them torturing me, me training on my own and training the recruits, and info about my new abilities. Once that's done, I turn to look at Bucky. Flashes of our time together in Hydra comes flooding back, so I look away and walk past him. We make it back to the avengers and they have everyone either knocked out or dead, but backup will be here soon. "Wow, you look different." Nat says. "Really Nat? She just spent 4 months with hydra and that's what you have to say?" Bucky retorts. I was in cryo for 2 and a half months? "We should go." Steve suggests. Memories of my time in Hydra are still running through my mind. My recent experience and old ones when Bucky was here. All of start making our way out of the building, Bucky remaining close to me the whole time. The memories aren't stopping. We're taking the stairs because the elevator deactivates under attack. We get to the main floor and all go outside. The light blinds me and the cold bites at me. I haven't been outside at all in the last 4 months. I can barely make out the jet in the distance. But I can hear Tony flying around above. We get to the jet and all pile on. Bruce is on the jet. He doesn't Hulk out unless absolutely necessary. "FRIDAY, take us back." Tony says, then steps out of his suit. The jet closes, then lifts into the air and takes off. "Kat, are you okay?" Bucky asks.
