Renegades one-shot
(This is really crappy, but I kind of lost interest near the end. Sorry!)
(Also, this title is really horrible, so if you have a better idea tell me!)
Danna looked up from her book. Her team members clustered her bed. She grinned. "I feel a lot better now. That's probably the pain meds, but..."
Ruby smiled. "I hope you get better soon!"
Oscar added, "Yeah, what she said."
Danna chuckled. "You two lovebirds are so cute."
Ruby pouted, "We are not!" while Oscar beamed.
"You are. I've already shipped you, Oscby!"
Ruby looked like she had sucked on a sour lemon and shuffled away from Oscar, making him cross his arms. "What did I do to you?" he complained.
"Anyway," Danna cut in mockingly, "you said something about a new team member?"
Ruby pushed Oscar away while she said, "Yeah. Her name's Nova, and she totally knocked the crap out of Gargoyle!"
Danna raised an eyebrow. "Wow. What's her power?"
Oscar answered, "Well, nothing much. Just that she never sleeps."
Danna started cracking her knuckles - a habit of hers - and replied, "Hmm, that's interesting. I'd like to meet her as soon as I can. We'll see if she, let's see... Passes the test." Her tone was threatening, but she was smiling.
Ruby grinned. "Well, see you tomorrow, Danna, and we'll try to get you to meet Nova as soon as we can! We miss you!" She leaned over the hospital bed and gave Danna a gentle hug. She pulled away and waved, heading toward the double doors. Oscar followed at a jog after awkwardly wishing Danna a speedy recovery as well.
Danna sighed and laid her head back on the bed, her blonde dreadlocks fanning around her. Why, when she was incapacitated, did they decide to get another member? Weren't the four of them a perfect team, bashing crime in its face? Did they really need someone else?
And along with that thought came the thoughts of Adrian. Danna had had a crush on him since she was first accepted into the Renegades. She hadn't told him, of course, because she didn't want to break their group dynamic, but she still wished he would notice her as more than a colleague. But what if... No. This new girl could not steal his heart. How could someone fall in love that fast? And besides, once Danna got out of this stupid hospital wing, she could watch Nova through and through.
It would be all right, she told herself. She could still take Nova off the team when the rest of them realized what a mess Nova caused. A plotting smile overcame Danna's face as she thought the plan through. Nova would fail in her duties, and the Renegades would strike her down. It wouldn't be hard to make her with inside information such as Danna's.
She wouldn't necessarily be betraying her team, even. She'd only be betraying Nova, someone who shouldn't even be a Renegade in the first place. So all in all, it would be easy.
Soon, very soon, Danna would have her revenge.
