They had told Tony many times that Steve was never going to wake up. But no matter how many times they told him, he always kept coming back. Every Thursday afternoon he would come to the hospital and sit by Steve's side. Every once in awhile, Peter would come too. It hurt the sixteen year old boy to see his Pops like this. He remembered when it all happened. Although he was only six at the time, it would forever be engraved in his mind. Unlike his Dad, he never believed his Pops would wake up.
It was a Thursday afternoon, like any other, and Tony and Peter were there visiting Steve. Peter sat on the couch by the window, while Tony sat on the bed next to Steve. "Hi baby," he whispered.
"Dad, stop."
"You're gonna be better soon, I promise," Tony said to Steve, completely ignoring Peter.
"DAD, STOP! HE'S NEVER GOING TO WAKE UP! YOU NEED TO LET HIM GO!" Peter and Tony got into these arguments often. No matter what Peter said, Tony was never going to let go. Something in him knew Steve would come back.
"Peter, I think it's time for you to go."
"But Dad-"
"JUST GO!" He yelled, cutting him off.
Peter said nothing and left the room. He wandering down the halls of the hospital. He was almost to the door when he heard a bunch of people running and yelling. He turned around wondering what all the chaos was about.
"He's waking up! Hurry get to room 250!"
Peter's heart sank. Steve was in room 250.
