The Sidekick

Chapter Two

-Alec's POV-

I need to find the Sidekick! I'm the Chosen One, that needs to be on a quest right now! Not looking for some measly peasant who is just going to slow me down! The king orders that I find my Sidekick, saying that it will be Important on the quest blah, blah, blah! Ugh, why is life so difficult for me! Me and my guards make our way into the last capital in this country. The capital is pretty big, but nothing compared to the central kingdom. We walk through the crowds trying to get to me and finally reach a stage in the middle of a plaza. My guards settle to each sides of the stage, ready to jump into action if something were to happen that didn't go according to plan. I walked up onto the stage, puffing my chest as people stared at me, wide eyed in fascination. I loved attention, feeling like the center of the universe. And of course I was a main attraction! I mean come on! I was blessed by the Gods for goodness sake! Blessed with the power to control all elements, minor to major. I clear my throat and bellowed "WHO IS THE LUCKY HUMAN TO ASSIST ME ON MY QUEST!" Suddenly, more people arrive and start looking around. I scan the area to see a single hand raise in the air. I couldn't  see their face clearly but they started making their way to the stage. A path cleared, only to reveal a small girl that looked maybe only 14. Well I am 15 so it wasn't really a surprise. But the fact that it was a small girl was a surprise... she jumped up onto the stage easily and quickly and stood a few yards away from me. She looked me in the eye and I almost gasped. Her eyes were like black clouds, dancing with different shades of gray and hints of white. Her hair was black but faded to a medium white on the ends, she was also well built, and about 5'2. How would someone so small and shrimpy be prophesied to go on the worlds hardest known quest!
