"Dad!" I yelled as I entered the hospital waiting area, flinging myself into his arms and sobbing.
"Mr Ellis" Reggie said behind me after my dad and I pulled away.
"Charles, son, please" my dad pulled Reg into a hug too.
"What are you doing here?" My mother yelled, storming up to us. "My son is in there fighting for his life and it's all your fault." She spat in Reggies race.
"Valentina, please" my Dad rested a hand on her arm but she was still staring straight at him.

I stepped in front of Reg and said "it wasn't his fault, Mom" before I rolled my eyes and pulled Reggie down the hall with me.
"What's happening?" I asked the Doctor when I got to Ed's room. Mom & Dad were behind me, eager to hear aswell.

"He's stable for now" she said and I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding. Reggie placed a hand on my shoulder, and the doctor continued "but, we worry that if we leave him to come around naturally he may not make it."

I felt myself begin to shake. I sat down.
"So what do we do?" I asked "surely there's something?" I could feel my temper rising but I took a deep breath.
"Well, we can operate. It would mean an almost certain chance of survival. However, there's a 65% chance of loss of movement in both legs, and a further 30% chance that the damage could be permanent."

We all looked at eachother.
"As his parents" the doctor addressed my mom and dad now, "it's your decision. I'll give you some time to think it over but if we're going to operate we must do so in the next couple of hours. I'm so sorry" and she left without another word.
The colour drained from my Mom's face as she began to sob and my dad ran his fingers through his hair.

"There's obviously no decision." I said after a few minutes of anxious silence. "They need to operate. We can't just do nothing and let him die."
"He could still wake up." My mother said after a minute.
"Maybe." My father agreed "and the surgery could mean he would never play football again."

Suddenly all I could see was rage.
"I cannot believe you two." I spat, attempting to hold myself back from yelling. "We all know Ed would want the surgery. And I know I don't get a say, but if you're willing to risk my brothers life I'm sure as hell not going to sit around and watch."

I turned my attention to Reggie.
"Take me home" I said and he didn't hesitate, following me down the hallway as I walked away.

-

"Turn right here" I said, the first words I had spoken since we got in the car.
"What? Your house is a left turn." Reggie asked, dumbfounded.
"I'm not going home. I need a drink."
"Chloe, you won't get served anywhere you aren't 21." He said, but he made the right turn anyway.
"I know one place I can."

"You don't actually think I'm going to leave you here do you?" Reggie scoffed, when we pulled up outside the Whyte Wyrm and I began unbuckling my seatbelt. "Stay in this car, I'm taking you home."
"Reg, I love you but you do NOT want to test me right now. I suggest you drive away. Toni's inside I'll get a ride home just PLEASE I want to be alone." The look on my face was enough for him not to argue.
"You call me if you need anything." He said sternly. I wouldn't but I still agreed and pecked him on the cheek before I got out of the car.

-

I entered the Wyrm with my head held high, and despite the leather jacket I was wearing I still managed to turn every head in there.
"You got a lot of nerve coming on our turf, Northsider" one of the bikers from the pool table said as he walked towards me. He was bald but had a long stringy beard.
