"Today's my birthday, yet it feels like it's just another ordinary day." sigh.
"Maybe they're just.."
"Too busy to remember my day! Oh yes, of course. That would always be the reason. I'm sick and tired of this family, nan!"
"Don't be, Jules. You're still blessed because you have hard working parents, not everyone could have parents like that."
"Yeah, yeah.. I should be grateful because they provide me with everything I need.. I know, I know.."
But material things are not just what I need. It's their love and attention that I seek.
I'm Juliet Cross. It's my 17th birthday today, and guess what? Horray! My parents are celebrating it with their papers and employees! As always. I'm an only child, their only child yet they don't see me as one. I feel like I'm only one of their liabilities being provided with money and all but not greater than thier businesses.
Umm.. Does Cross Ring a bell?
Yes, I'm the daughter of the famous Mr.&Mrs.Cross of Cross Suites, and the heiress of the Cross Empire. My mom is an architect; though that should be her career, she doesn't practice it at present. Since she got married to my father, she stopped doing projects and held the responsibility of managing the Cross Suites, which we got from my late grand father. Which reminds me..
"How I wish, Pop was still here. He's the only one who cares to throw a party just to make my day special!"
Pop, or my dad's dad, is my angel. He cares for me, more than my parents. He loved me so much that he put me as the heiress of the Cross Empire. My father was devastated when he found out about it during the reading of pop's last will and testament. He expected his name as the recepient, not mine.
"How could he name it after her? It should be MY NAME since I'm his son, not her!"
I can still remember him complained. He hated me since that day. No, he hated me before pop's death; and he hates me even more now.
"Dear, please don't be sad anymore. Your friends are coming to celebrate with you anyway."
"Yeah. Thank God, I have found real friends."
Ding dong.
Speaking of the angels, I guess it's them already. I ran out of the kitchen and left my nan alone, since I'm too excited to even excuse myself. It took me half a minute to reach the foyer and to my surprise, I've opened the door to someone I didn't expect to see.
"Surprise!" It's not their faces that welcomed me as I opened the door but a guy's instead.
"Who are you?" I was greeted by a guy who I guess is in my age, with a box of pizza in his right hand and a bouquet of roses in his left. Wow. Just wow. How did he managed to make the door bell ring?
"I'm Rome and I'm here to give you these." After emphasizing the word these he smiled devilishly at me. Oh. He's pretty cute but..
"And why are you giving me all of these? Who really the hell are you? Guards!" He's a stranger. He might be one of those guys who breaks in and steals whatever he could or would kidnap me and ask ransom in exchange of my safety! I've read that from novels, it could really be possible.
"Hey, hey! I didn't do anything wrong, did I?" He had that surprised reaction in his face as I called the guards. He looks even more cute. Oh no, he can't be cute. No respond from the guards, by the way.
"How did you manage to get through the gates? I don't know you!" I shouldn't be fooled by his looks. He may be a criminal! He may have some back-up. Oh no. I'm dead. Where's nan? And why don't I get any response from the guards?
a/n: sorry i'm a newbie and since i am one, expect grammatical errors and spellings. just pm me for the corrections. i'd highly appreciate that. xxoo
