We were assigned a mentor each, all except me. I was assigned 5, a mentor for each area. Lucas for transformations. Cleo for elemental abilities. Gillian for hand combat, and non magic fighting. Aurora for super senses. Iris for tracking and stealth.

"Lucas, what do you think my transformation will be?" I asked, in our first lesson.

"I can't be sure but I know it will be interesting. Mine is a wolf, which represents my blood element." He explained.

"How do you do transform?" I asked.

"Sit with your legs folded, take ten deep breaths and close your eyes." He sat opposite me doing the same.

"Now clear your mind, and let it wander along the spiritual pathway to find your spirit animal."

"I see a starry path with an abyss at the end one way and a wide oak door at the other."

"Head towards the door."And I do, I pull the handle and the door is half unlocked but still half bolted. "It's still locked." I sighed.

"Is there a key anywhere?" I look down and attached to my necklace is a bronze ornate key which should easily fit the lock. I twist the key and turn the handle to hear a satisfying click as the door opens up to reveal.. A royal looking Phoenix but instead of it being red or orange it is turquoise like a peacock with huge ornate wings and a jewel encrusted tail. And these glowing vibrant purple eyes. "Wow."

"Um, Georgina you might want to lead it out and back into the real world." So I walked out leading the legendary bird which is timidly skulking forwards behind me. We step there together and teleport to the training room. And she is real.

"A hyroglifics based Phoenix. Interesting." Luca scanned around her.

"Is this a common transformation animal?" I asked with the bird be my side and its head held regally aloft.

"Not exactly? In fact I have never seen this type of creature before. It might be the only one of its kind. It is Unique." Luca explains.

"Why are we called the transformations if this is all we can do?" I asked.

"Because this is the minimal amount a first year can do."

"Then what else."

"Let me show you." He turned away.

"Woah." He turned straight into a big wolf.

"What can I do?" I asked.

"Perhaps the same." He shrugged changing back.

"How do you change?"

"You let its spirit take over. Let it take over your mind and consciousness." I let it do so. I feel a flurry of magic tingle all over me. I open my eyes.

To my surprise, I am not the Phoenix but a girl with feathery features and skin, with multi-coloured wings like a sheet of stained glass. I look in a mirror, to see that I am now wearing a long shiny wrap skirt with metallic beads in purples and blues. And a steampunk top with metallic copper accessories which match the leathery appearance of the top. My shoes are made of the same leather and are like trainer boots, which wrap around my legs which are turquoise in colour the skin that is. Then at my knee there is a thin band of leather where all of the wrapped pieces tie up.

"To change back, feel your natural form taking back over."

I returned to my basic state again.

Only with turquoise skin and the phoenix still at my side.

"By the way how do I create a shield." I asked, this was definitely my survival instinct kicking in.

"You use this spell repeat after me," Luca states, "creazione- di scu-di. And as you say it allow your hands to release magic. Like this."
