Summary: Luke and Ashton used to date but they broke it off years ago when Luke decided to go on tour. Luke still has feelings for the hazel-eyed boy but is too late when he finds out that Ashton is already engaged to another man named Calum Hood?

Ashton yawned, shifting in his spot where he was cuddled up with his fiancé, unable to stop the smile that graced his lips when he glanced down at the ring on his left hand. His boyfriend of two years had proposed to him last night, and he honestly couldn't be happier in that moment.
The curly haired boy looked up when he heard his cell phone buzz, the vibration making Calum turn away sleepily and groan at the irritating sound of Ashton's plastic cover hitting the wooden end table next to them.
Ashton didn't doubt for a single moment on who it could be, whom else would call him at three in the morning? He picked up the phone nonetheless and pressed it to his ear before answering into the small speaker, his voice quiet and slow so he wouldn't fully wake his lover next to him. "Hello?"
"Tell me it isn't true," The person on the other end croaked out, his voice wavering as he spoke to the man that he's loved for as long as he can remember.
"What are you talking about?" Ashton questioned, moving to stand up. He grabbed the pair of boxers that were discarded on the carpeted floor the night before and slipped them on, his iPhone tucked between his shoulder and his left cheek.
"Please tell me that you said no, say that you turned him down." The person practically begged, fresh tears rolling down his reddened cheeks.
"Luke... You know I can't lie to you." The older of the two whispered at last after a moment of silence -something that almost drove the blue-eyed boy insane.
"Y-You were supposed to wait for me!" Luke cried, shaking his head furiously as he tugged at his slightly greasy blonde locks.
"How long? Luke, I did wait for you, I waited years for you but you never got your shit together! You told me that you just needed to get things figured out but that never happened!" Ashton blustered, wrapping an old hunter green blanket around his shoulders to shield the cool morning air from his bare tan skin.
"I-I... I'm trying, Ash, it's just... It's hard," He hiccuped, "I was trying to follow my dreams, that's what you told me to do."
"And I meant it... Aren't you happy? You have your own tour now, y-your new single hit number one in several countries last week."
"I am, I love that but I... I wanted you here beside me. I wanted you to be the one to help me celebrate. Ash, you are the only one."
Ashton sighed, rubbing at his temple with his free hand, "You never had any intention of settling down with me, Luke. Don't lie."
"But I love y--"
"Don't say it!" He finally yelled, a single tear making it's way down his face. "Don't make it sound like this is my fault, don't make me feel guilty for moving on."
"I don't blame you, Ashton... That's not what I'm saying. It was all my fault, I realize that but I hate that you're with someone else because I do still love you and I'm not afraid to say it!"
"I-It doesn't matter now, Luke. I said yes, we're getting married," He whispered, making the other man fall silent.
Just when he was about to hang up, completely sure that Luke had hung up already, the blonde spoke up. "And there's nothing I can do... To change your mind?"
"No." Was all he said. And it was so quiet, so silent that it scared the older boy.
"Okay," He finally replied, and then the two small beeps made it's way to Ashton's ear, letting him know that the quiffed boy had finally hung up on him.
