Reader's P.O.V.

(A/N This won't follow the scene exactly in the game.)

As I stood in my father's studio, one thing ran through my mind: boy, did I miss this place. The last couple years, I had been off at college, studying for a job that will probably be taken by an android. But oh well, that was life in 2038.

Dad was telling me about his newest piece when I heard the sound of a door open. A tan man, with a buzzed haircut, walked through the door with a box from Bellini Paints. Once I noticed the all-too-familiar blue markings on his clothes and the LED, I realized it was Dad's android. "Carl, I've picked up the box of paint you ordered," the android said as he set the paint down on the shelf. He turned to me, his LED blinking yellow as he held a curious stare. "Who's this?"

"Markus, this is my daughter. You haven't met because apparently college students tend to forget about their parents," Dad spoke with his usual gruff voice, giving me a pointed look at the end.

"Sorry, Dad. I've been slammed," I shrugged while speaking with a small voice.

"She's..," Markus trailed off, his LED remaining a faint yellow. "She's the little girl in the pictures, correct?"

"Indeed she is. She kinda grew up a bit, huh?" Dad teased as he elbowed me. He was sitting in his wheelchair, so as a result, his elbow got me just above the hip. I rolled my eyes at the playful gesture.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, (Y/N)," Markus spoke with a monotone voice. "If I'm not watching Carl paint, I'm listening to childhood stories about you and your brother."

Oh lord, I thought. What all has Dad told him?

"It's good to meet you, too, Markus. Thank you for taking care of my dad while I'm not here," I answered politely.

"You don't have to thank me. It's my sole purpose," he replied. I nodded quietly, leaving the room silent. What broke said silence was the sound of the studio door opening again. There stood my older, druggie brother, Leo.

"Hey, Dad. (Y/N)," he said awkwardly while being his rude self and not even acknowledging Markus.

"Leo, it's good to see you," Dad smiled as he saw his son.

"Hey, listen, Dad," Leo started.

Five bucks says he'll ask for drug money.

"I need some cash," he cut right to the chase.

Called it.

"For what?" Dad questioned. "You're on it again. Aren't you?"

"No! What does it matter! I just need some... Cash.. That's all," he raised his voice defensively. Markus and I awkwardly stood off to the side waiting for the situation to diffuse. His LED blinked yellow, showing he was cautious and predicting Leo's every possible movement.

"Sorry. The answer's no," Dad spoke sternly.

"Why am I never treated fairly?" Leo complained, starting to get angry. "You'd rather pay her fucking college tuition and care for your plastic pet then help out your own son!"

"Excuse me, I'm actually trying to make something of myself while you're sitting on your couch puffing red ice!" I interjected. This egotistical asshole I called my brother needed to be put in his place.

"Shut the fuck up!" Leo yelled as he pointed a finger at me.

"Leo, that's enough!" Dad yelled angrily. "Leave your sister alone."

"She's always been the favorite, huh? And now this plastic prick comes along. They're your perfect children, right?" Leo spat as he pushed me with force, making me trip over a table. I accidentally knocked a cup of brushes over on the way down.

"Leo! Stop!" Dad tried to stop him, but with his wheelchair, he was no help. He started to cough heavily from the exertion. "Markus, get him out of here!"

"All you ever do is tell me to leave, Dad! What, I'm not perfect, like this fucking thing?!" Leo continued to rage. I stood back behind Markus because my brother was starting to scare me.

"Leo, you need to leave," Markus calmly stated as he stepped forward and grabbed Leo's arm.

"Get off me," Leo growled as he pushed Markus' shoulders. Markus stood still, making Leo hit him a second time, calling him tin can, piece of plastic, and other bullshit. I could see Markus's LED flashing red.

"Markus, don't defend yourself. You hear me?" Dad called weakly. "Don't do anything."

I could see Markus processing as Leo continued to push, slap, and call him awful things.

"Leave him alone, Leo!" I screeched as I tried to pry him away from the sweet android. A hand came down onto my cheek, making my head snap to the side.

Then, something that I didn't expect happened. Markus punched Leo with an unmeasurable amount of force. He fell back and hit his head on Dad's painting chair. He landed limp on the floor, his neck tilted at an awkward angle. The three of us sat in shock.

Dad fell off his wheelchair and crawled over to his body. "Leo," he cried. I couldn't remember the last time he had cried. "My boy."

"I-I.. Didn't mean-" Markus stuttered, tears of guilt running down his face. Apart of me felt like it was somewhat my fault. Markus had deviated and hit Leo just to protect me.

"They're gonna destroy you, Markus! You gotta go!" Dad ordered.

"I-I have nowhere to go. Carl, you're all I have," Markus whimpered. I wanted to give the poor guy a big hug, even though he could've potentially killed my brother. Leo was asking for it.

"Go! Now!" Dad ordered again. But Markus was too late. The police came charging in, most likely from a noise complaint from a neighbor. In their eyes, they saw an unconscious man with an android hovering over him. So what did they do?

They shot Markus in the heart on sight.
