Reader's P.O.V.
I approached the porch of my family's home, Connor in tow. I was about to knock on the door when I noticed he wasn't next to me. He stood at the bottom step, catching his unneeded-breath. "Connor, why are you nervous?" I asked as I approached him. I smoothed out his dress shirt against his chest, since he nervously played with the buttons in the car. I made him leave his coin at home, but I was regretting taking away his fidget toy.
"They're not gonna accept me. I'm different," he drooped his head in shame.
"Connor, you're more of a man than any human I know. They're gonna love you, I promise," I reassured him. He smiled shyly, causing me to peck his lips from the cuteness.
"Alright, I'm ready. Do I look ok?" He asked with insecurity behind his tone.
"You look like you always do, Con, just minus the Cyberlife blazer."
He breathed a deep breath, stepping onto the front porch. As I knocked on the door, he fidgeted with his tie. "Connor, stop," I ordered gently.
"It was crooked," he whined defensively. His LED blinked a faint yellow, showing he was still nervous.
"Oh my gosh," I sighed, reaching up to his tie. I undid the knot, folding it in my hand. "Relax." I placed a slightly deeper kiss than before onto his lips, hoping to calm him down. He kissed back with a sigh of content.
"Ew. I didn't need to see that (Y/N)," I heard my teenage brother, Jackson, tease from the open doorway. I pulled away from Connor to stick my tongue out at my brother.
"Oh, be quiet, Jack," I chuckled. "Connor, this is my brother, Jackson. Jackson, this is my boyfriend, Connor," I introduced the two. Connor held his hand out to him. He'd recently caught on to the human gesture and used it frequently to make him "fit in". Jackson accepted the handshake, shaking his hand with a firm grip.
"Well, come in, guys," Jackson said as he stepped aside. I grabbed Connor's hand and led him into my childhood home. I hung his tie on the coat rack by the door when we entered.
"(Y/N/N)!" I heard a little voice scream. I turned to the staircase to see my 8 year old sister, Scarlet, rushing towards me. Once she reached the bottom of the stairs, she leaped into my arms.
"Hey, Scar," I laughed as I held her against my torso.
"Is that Connor?" she whispered not-so-discreetly.
"Yea. Pretty cute, huh?" I whispered as well, making sure Connor could hear. Scarlet giggled at my response, making me chuckle at the adorable child.
"Girls," Connor said as he rolled his eyes. This made Scarlet giggle harder. Connor's lips pulled up into a smile at the sight. My heart practically melted at their interaction.
"Is that them, Jack?" I heard my mom from the kitchen.
"Yup, they're here!" he hollered back to her. I grabbed Connor's hand, my other occupied with holding Scarlet on my waist, and led him into the kitchen to see my mom cooking dinner.
"Hey, Momma!" I called excitedly. She turned around with her bright smile, as usual. She put her spatula down and made her way towards me, arms wide open. I set Scarlet down so I could hug her.
