Prologue

**Author's Note**

As he heard the third clap of the referee, he got up wiped some blood off his knuckles and some off his face, walking towards his boss he took the money he earned from winning this underground street boxing match, he left the streets without glancing back.

Luke James Michaelis also known as "The Avenger" in the world of underground boxing finally took a breath of fresh air breathing the relief in as he thought about the arriving dawn, looking at the bills in his hands as he walked further down towards to the nearest thing he called home, stopping in midway just to turn into the forest walking deeper inside the stopped in front of a big tree looking no different from the others but very special and dear to him in the middle of nowhere he stood smiling he kneeled down and started removing the five big stones and the leaf underneath to reveal the hole he dug when he was fifteen years old,  opening up the plastic bag, he dumped half of the bills inside and closed it. Its been three years since he started saving money in this very bag And tomorrow will be the day he would finally use it, replacing the leaf and stones to the way they were before,  Luke got up and and headed back towards his home where he was beaten and abused if he didn't bring back any money at the end of the day.

Awkward  huh? getting beaten and abused even after being a boxer himself? As said, "beggars can't be choosers" he had someone very dearly to protect and to cherish which was only possible if he lived with these people until he finally turned eighteen which was becoming a reality tomorrow.

When he arrived he banged the door and walked in handing the money to Geoff his "guardian" he walked past him and went  to the kitchen he ate the leftover bread and soup which was mostly water as fast as he could. Geoff lately reluctant to touch him, let alone raise a voice  against him went back to his room. Being the seventeen year old he was or turning to eighteen Luke was quite built for his age, being a boxer since three years left him fit and  strong.

Luke got up and went to is room making sure he didn't have any blood left on himself. The door opened with a creek and he heard a soft sigh of his little sister who sat up looking half asleep," Is it you lu?" she asked "I was waiting up for you."

"Oh Elly ... I told you not to wait up for me. You should have gone to bed till 9."he frowned

"But it ain't 9'o clock till now. The clock shows its still five minutes to 9,  right?  So that means I ain't late." she giggled

"And did it not strike you that the arms of the clock must be moving not be frozen?  Or did ya not notice that it shows 8:55 from the past two hours,  huh? " he said in a mocking confusion while tickling his little sister "And strange it stops exactly at 8:55 everyday, isn't it?  You naughty little thing."

"May- maybe it likes the number lu. " she said laughing almost out of her breath, "You should get it repaired."

"Give me the battery Elly." he said to which she opened her tiny little fist to reveal the battery and handed it to him.

Elly climbed to his lap and hugged him  which made him wince, looking worried at his face she asked, "Did you hurt yourself bad?  " Getting up from the double bed the shared she walked towards the cupboard to fetch some band aids,  some disinfectant, ointment and some cotton. For the five year old girl she was, she was quite calm and wise. Hugging the medicines which was too much for her tiny arms to hold at once,  she dropped all of them on the bed and helped me apply it.

Never; I thought to myself will there be a worry or a single tear in her eyes ever again after tomorrow. Tomorrow after turning eighteen I will finally take her away from this world.
