I begin to make my way through the forest towards the disturbance. It's a guy with hooked swords yelling at a fire nation solider. Hey kid we're just - don't call me a kid! I recognize their uniform it's from the 41st division. The soldiers were from the 41st division they're only two years older than I am Fylia. What was I supposed to do? I race forward and I raise my sword towards him he lowers his swords whoa are you? He asks. Is that? Princess Kani? One of the soldiers asks. I turn and see them all on their knees. EARTH TO PRINCESS!! I open my eyes to find my hands tied and I can faintly sense water nearby. I look to the guy that is standing next to me. Now he says I need you to use. Water bending so that you can open the vents. you're joking, right? I ask. No. he says. He pulls something out of his pocket and hands it to someone nearby. Make sure she listens. He leaves and I say I can't do anything with my hands tied. Figure it out. The kid with the helmet says. How exactly do you expect me to water bend im a fire bender? Jet says you're the avatar. How is it going? I turn and see Jet pulling someone behind him. I thought he might be able to get you moving. My eyes widen when I see him the ropes burn off of my wrists and I see white as I tackle Jet to the ground. Kani! Kani! He's not worth it! Kani please listen to me! Zuko goes over to kani whos eyes are white and she turns and looks at him only anger in her eyes. Please Kani...please come back to me. Kani's eyes slowly dim and she clings to her brother as she goes limp. Zuko...she says faintly I thought...shhh...he says its alright. He stands up I am taking her and leaving. He gently picks his sister up and goes to their camp and picks up her weapons and her pack along with his. He pulls a whistle out of his pocket and blows it. Minutes later a bison arrives and lands. A bald monk hops off and his eyes widen. I..I know her he says Zuko smiles yeah buddy Kani? Kani doesn't stir. I think shes wiped Zuko says to get her on appa we'll find somewhere safe. Kani doesn't stir as they fly through the air. Zuko holds onto her and he put his hand through her hair. She wakes up about an hour later and tries to get out of his grasp. Kani! Kani! Zuko? Zuko smiles it's alright he says. You're safe now. Zuko I- it's alright. But zuko if you want to- I don't want to go home anymore he says. Not like that. I would never hurt you even if you are the avatar. He says.  I...I'm not sure if I completely understand but you're my sister and it doesn't matter he says. Farther knows he knows and - shhh. Ozai has no idea where we are Zuko says softly as Kani shakes like a leaf. Zuko pulls his sister close to his chest. Aang he calls to the front. Aang! Aang turns and comes over to Zuko. We need to land. She's freezing. But shes a fire bender the other boy says isn't she always hot? He snickers get it? This isn't funny Sokka. She's got a cut with an infection she's sick. The girls eyes widen. Let me- not here Zuko says. She needs sunlight and I think warmer water will also help- but I- he's right Aang says we need to land anyway it's almost nightfall she'll be weakest then. He goes back to the front and he lands in a valley near a stream. Aang air bends down and Sokka follows him. Easy...easy he helps Zuko lower Kani down and Zuko places her under a tree near the stream. He sits next to her and Sokka replaces him once he helps Katara set up the fire pot over the fire. He goes back over only to find her fast asleep. He squeezes her hand. She opens her eyes and he helps her sit up. You've got to stay awake sis. Kani reaches up and touches Zuko's scar. It's alright just look at me. Katara gently opens her robe and she gasps at the marks on her chest and arms. Kani ...who did this. And I...I don't know what happened all I know is I felt angry and they no longer cared for my mission they wanted me. I...Azula came and she brought me back here and she...Zuko there's something burned on her skin. Kani flinches at Katara's touch. She branded you?! Kani nuzzles into her brother's chest. He sighs as the fire calms back down. Katara begins to slowly draw out the infection and Zuko and Sokka are forced to hold Kani down as she struggles. Katara quickly bandages the wounds saying we need to find another healer someone with the right herbs. I agree Zuko says but who will help us? She's the avatar Sokka says someone will. We're both banished Zuko says glancing at his sister. She doesn't know he says softly. How can she not know that she's banished? Zuko pulls out a wanted poster and shows it to them.
