I open my eyes to find myself in a airless windowless room. It's cold and dry and I'm suspended above something by my arms and legs. I look up when I hear someone enter the room I'm in and I see it's only Mai. She comes forward and she pulls something and I'm lowered to a platform I land on my knees and she comes over to me. She comes over with a small bowl of rice and she feeds it to me. I don't have much time she whispers. I..I don't care if you're the avatar you're still the girl I grew up with...you've always been like a little sister to me. I..I just wanted you to know that. She finishes and I whisper to her. Thanks Mai. She smiles and nods. She puts her hand on my shoulder. Please she says your country needs you ...even if it means fighting back. I study her and I whisper I know. Our eyes meet and she nods and I'm pulled up again and I watch her leave. I close my eyes and I don't open them until I land on my back and I see Azula standing over me. Guards pull me up and begin to restrain me even as I try to fight back you're being transferred she says. She cups my chin. I am expecting you to behave she says. The guards take me from the compound and I'm shocked to see we're not in the fire nation. We're in a red forest. Strange. I think to myself. The guards continue to pull me along and they tie me to a tree.
They end up camping for more than one night. Someone should watch her. Why? She isn't going anywhere she hasn't even moved. I hide my smirk. I've been slowly burning off the herbs and foreign substances that have been making me weak. I wait until all of the guards go to sleep before I send fire through the tree. I burn the chains away and I grab my pack they foolishly brought. Next I grab my sheath and a quiver and a pack before I begin to run. I run as fast as I can through the forest sending fire behind me as I hear them chasing me through the forest. I finally stop when I no longer hear them. I lean against the trunk of a tree. I close my eyes.
You're worthless. That's what I'm burning into your arm Fylia that way you'll always know who your are. You're a traitor by birth.
I shake my head and I pull down my worn sleeve covering the burn. I blow out a small stream of fire as I touch the earth trying to get any kind of sense from it. I feel slight vibrations and I sniff the air. Somethings wrong.
