In the morning Zuko wakes up to find his sister meditating only her under binds and her heavy bandages covering her chest and shorts. A small flame is floating in the air in front of her and her face is calm. Zuko goes behind her and sits in the grass beside her. Her eyes snap open. Hello brother.  Kani! Zuko says. Are you...ok? I...I her stomach lets out a loud grumble. Zuko laughs. Aang comes over to the pair as they get up. Hey I..he bows to Kani my name is Aang. Kani bows to aang I am Kani princess of the fire nation and...and Kani takes a steadying breath. And the avatar. Aang smiles. Nice to meet you Kani! Come on! Well eat some breakfast and then we'll start your training! He says. Kani smiles and follows aang to the fire where another girl is cooking something. Kani and Zuko eat some bread and fruit and aang eats the same. A cat owl flies towards their camp and lands near Kani. Kani scratches the birds ear and she purrs and she takes the letter. Kani reads the letter and gasps. What is it? Zuko asks. An earth kingdom general wants to meet me...and my allies. What? Zuko says. He snatches the letter and he says I don't like this. Neither do I. Kani says. I think we should meet him aang says. But he's an earth kingdom general Zuko says it's a trap it has to be. But he could be an ally Sokka says. An ally Zuko says we're the fire lords children. He wants nothing more than our blood. You don't know that Aang says. Zuko sighs. He said he wanted to meet with Kani and her allies he says. So it's her decision. Zuko Kani says grasping her brother's hand I...I too have reservations about meeting anyone even people within our own nation our now my enemy and yours but we do not know he is until we know his intentions. Zuko sighs. You always were very diplomatic. He says fine we'll meet with this general Hao he says when does he want to meet? Tomorrow Kani says. I won't do anything rash Zuko I promise I'm still recovering after all. We should start heading over there however and I'll write up a reply.

General Hao's letter: Avatar I have learned that you are close by and I would be honored to meet you and your allies I have an idea of how this war can come to a swift end to end more blood shed. Please meet me tomorrow at my base which is just a few hundred miles outside of your location. I will await your reply. General Hao   

Kani's reply :
General Hao I agree to meet you at your base with at least one of my allies present at my side of my choosing at all times. If you can not agree to these terms then send me a cat owl as there will be no reason for me to come. I will only agree to hear you out but not to act on any of your suggestions. We will arrive in the morning on skybison.

Zuko nods once he reads it and nods and Kani sends it away. The owl cat flies away and Kani stands up and Zuko says Kani? Kani holds up a hand as a small fox dog cub comes out of the trees. It has golden eyes and it is black with red markings on its face. Woha..Zuko says softly that's a fire cub. They're really rare. Kani bends down and grabs a few nuts from the pile and puts them in her hand. You are my person. Kani gasps when she hears the soft voice in her head. She holds onto the nuts and the cub comes closer. Aang gasps. What? Zuko says. Aang pulls Zuko aside. What is it Aang? The wolffox cub that's her spirit animal like Appa is mine. zukos eyes widen. He looks over and sees the cub eating the nuts out of her hand. Hey...Kani kneels in the soft grass and she giggles softly Kani katara says not knowing about the wolf fox what are- shh! Zuko says stopping her. Kani gently strokes the small cub.
