Dalta rushed past me, squeezing the straps of her pink bag. Her t-shirt pink and sneakers to match. She looked like a clown in my opinion. "Dalta!" I shouted her name running after her. She quickly sprinted into the girl's bathroom. I groaned, then I leaned up against the wall by the door. A girl walked out and the smell smacked me across my face. "Whoa." I covered my nose and mouth. "Dalta can't stay in there forever." I was wrong.
The bell rang and I stood by the door waiting. A girl walked up to the door. "Hey." I touched her shoulder. "Could you see if someone's in there for me? Black girl, really big curly dark hair, short...er than I am?"
"Sure." She snickered at my height, then walked into the bathroom. I wasn't short. I was average. Five-six was average. About a minute later, she returned. "There's no one in the bathroom."
I groaned and looked around the hallway, then looked at the girl. "You're kidding. Did you check the stalls?"
"They're all open. Did you see her walk in-"
I quickly pushed the door open and walked into the bathroom.
"Hey!" the girl called out to me, following me in.
I looked around the empty bathroom. "What is this? The Chronicles of Narnia? You can't just walk through a door and then disappear. Is this bathroom magic or something?"
The girl shrugged, looking at me from head to toe. "I don't know. Is she your girlfriend or-"
"No, never." I rubbed my chin and looked at the floor.
"I'm Betty, by the way. I'm a freshman."
I looked at the girl then I chuckled. "Which one? A, B or R?"
Her smile dropped. "What does everyone keep asking me that?" She turned around and stormed out of the bathroom.
I sighed, then I looked at the window. Dalta must've climbed through it. She could definitely fit. She knew I would scold her for burning that rich kid's car. "She had better run. Little brat!" I sighed about to walk out of the ladies' room when the door opened. Penny walked in.
She looked appalled; her hand on her chest and her face knotted up like a fishing net. "Otis, what the-"
"Please don't." I walked out of the bathroom putting my hand in her face as I walked past her. I couldn't go searching for Dalta. She wasn't worth it. I made my way to class, walking in late.
I found myself in my seat. My eyes scanned the room for any sign of Dalta, then stopped on Ethan who sat in front of me. He was tapping his pen on his desk and stomping his foot repeatedly. He suddenly turned back to me. "Hey, have you seen Dalta? She cancelled on me."
Baffled, I furrowed my brow. "What do you mean she cancelled on you?"
"She said something came up. She wouldn't even explain herself. Like, how could she ditch me?"
"I know, right?" I glared at him. "How could she ditch the god himself?"
He squinted at me, then he scoffed and turned away. The girl beside me giggled.
I turned to her. "What's so funny?"
"You." She tilted her head and put her hands under her chin.
I chuckled and blushed, looking down. "Taylor, right?"
"Unfortunately," she nodded and smiled. "One of the most common names in the book."
"Well," I leaned closer to her and whispered, “at least you're not a Betty."
She laughed putting her hand over her mouth. She looked at me, scanning my face. "Hey, sit with me at lunch today. My friends will love you."
I stared at her. "Sure." I gulped and turned away. I wasn't a fan of crowds or crushes and I was developing the latter.
