I sat in my car staring at the road with glared eyes. Taylor held my hand on her lap talking about how excited she was to go to the party. We weren't supposed to go according to her. But she always went. Usually I wouldn't want to go to something like that. I hated crowds, didn't like public dancing...and hated crowds. I was only going because I needed to know what Dalta was up to. "They say the parties are really epic because only a few people get to go in," Taylor grinned, staring out the window. "But they'll definitely let me in. They always do."
"You?" I looked at her. "Why?"
"Because I'm Chad Benson's sister," she shrugged.
I tried not to roll my eyes. We drew closer to the frat house and my heart began to vibrate my entire body with each thump. I was terrified and about to turn the car around when I saw Chad's car parking across the street from the frat. My eyes remained glued to the car. I watched Dalta get out. My eyes grew. "What the..." I blurted out. "What is she wearing?"
Taylor snorted. "Wow, Dalta. Would have never expected that out of you."
I scoffed and rolled my eyes watching her with Chad. I watched his hand slide down her back. They looked at each other and he chuckled, then he slipped his mask on. I shook my head. Dalta slipped a white rabbit mask over her face. They walked up the lawn and skipped the line walking right into the party. "We are not about to join that long line," Taylor declared. I ignored her, quickly finding a parking spot.
She handed me the sheep mask.
I furrowed my brows.
"We'll get in faster...I hope," she slipped her rabbit mask on her face then turned to me. "The password is pink champagne."
I lifted a brow. "Why pink?"
She shrugged, and looked at me with glared eyes through the almond shaped cut outs for eyes. "I don't know, Otis. Geez."
We walked across the street and I put on my mask. The line took a long time to move. The party seemed like it had just started so the crowd was large and the line was long. After about five to ten minutes of my groaning and sighing, Taylor got annoyed and grabbed my hand. She pulled me to the front of the line. "Excuse me," she pushed herself in front of the first person in the line. "Hi," she lifted her mask and looked up at the bouncer. "I'm the sister of one of the boys in there."
The bouncer ignored her.
"I'm Chad Benson's sister."
"Really?" He said apathetic tone without looking at her. "That's fantastic."
She smiled, but I knew he was being sarcastic. "Will you let us in?"
"No. You're holding up the line." The bouncer grabbed her arm.
"What?" She yanked it away. "Are you kidding me? I'm not about to go to the back of that line again."
"Ma'am, you don't have a choice..." The bouncer furrowed his brows. "Can I see some ID?"
My eyes grew.
Taylor looked inside the house. "Chad!"
He and Dalta stood talking to Sutton, the blonde who had nearly run her over with her car. Dalta held a red cup in her hand. They turned to the doorway and I quickly stepped aside so they wouldn't see me.
Chad tilted his head back and looked up at the ceiling, slouching his shoulders in irritation. He walked over to the bouncer. "What are you doing here?" He shouted at Taylor.
"I'm here for the party," she said with a smug grin and lowered chin. "Come on. Just let us in... Or I'll tell mom about your underage drinking." She pointed at the red cup in Chad's hand.
"Mom doesn't care."
Taylor shook herself and pouted like a child about to throw a tantrum. I groaned and rolled my eyes. "Chad," she whined. Then she suddenly froze and smirked. She cocked her head. "Or...I'll tell mom and dad about Betty."
Chan's face went pale. He shook his head. "Whatever." He looked at me then back at her. "Stay by his side all night. Got it?"
Taylor looked me up and down. "I plan to."
I tried not to roll my eyes.
We walked into the party and I immediately started heading towards Dalta.
Taylor grabbed my hand. "Drinks! We need drinks."
I stared at Dalta as Taylor pulled me away. She stood talking to Sutton with her mask lifted on top her head. She turned to me not making me out with my mask on. She looked at Taylor and furrowed her brows. Then she took out her phone. Chad suddenly stood behind her wrapping his arms around her shoulders and resting his chin on her head. She grew stiff turning back to the girl. I walked into the kitchen.
Taylor handed me a cup. "It seems like the party's just starting." She sipped her beer.
I stared at the brown liquid. "Is there no regular soda here? ...Or water?"
Taylor laughed. She took my cup and chugged down the beer.
My phone vibrated in my pocket. I quickly took it out and looked at it.
Dalta: Are you at the party by any chance? Because Taylor's here with some guy.
I chuckled. Dalta hadn't recognized me. I quickly texted her back.
Otis: No. I'm not at any frat party. I would never go to one of those.
I shut my phone off then leaned on the counter and squinted at Dalta. She looked at her phone then screwed up her lip. She shoved the phone in her pocket and looked around. I shook my head and chuckled. I must've smiled really hard because Taylor got suspicious.
"What's so funny?" She folded her arms.
"Dalta thinks you're cheating on me."
Taylor didn't laugh. "Why would she think that?"
"Because she doesn't recognize me."
Taylor slowly nodded.
I furrowed my brows. "Are you?"
"Am I what?" She didn't look at me.
"Cheating."
She sipped her drink. "How could I cheat on someone I was never really dating?"
I froze. "Ha," I chuckled and squeezed her nose, crinkling mine. "You're so funny."
She lifted her brow at me and folded her arms.
I froze.
