I sat in the cafeteria with Taylor wrapping herself around me like barbwire. She wouldn't leave me alone and I was sick of her. I didn't want to be alone, but this...this was to much. I watched Dalta walk into the cafeteria, her camouflage sunglasses on top of her head. She stood scanning the room for somewhere to sit. Todd waved at her from our table. "Todd," I groaned through gritting teeth and nudged his shoulder. "What are you doing?"
"What?" He looked back at me. "She may not be your friend but she's most definitely still mine." He waved at her again with a lopsided smile.
She looked at him, then at me.
"Wait." Taylor touched my arm. "You guys aren't friends anymore?"
I stared at Dalta as she approached our table. She sat beside Todd smiling at him. "Hey."
"Hey." He smiled at her, then looked down. His cheeks turned red.
I furrowed my brows. "What's this?" I pointed at them, person to person.
They looked at me.
"Are you jumping from guy to guy now?"
Dalta scoffed. "Excuse me?"
Taylor laughed covering her mouth. "Otis."
I ignored her.
"First Ethan, now Todd. Who's next?"
"Hmm. Maybe the teachers... then principal," Dalta teased. "You know. Like a video game," she hit Todd's shoulder with the back of her hand. "Like each teacher is a level up, and then the principal is the big boss that I have to beat or something." She stared at me with a lifted brow and a smug smirk.
I screwed up my lip, then stuck out my tongue.
She smirked and rolled her eyes, then turned around sitting with her back facing me. She pulled her sunglasses over her eyes, then put her elbows up on the table.
I lifted my brows. "Wow. Okay. I don't know what's going on here, but it's pretty entertaining."
Todd chuckled putting a chip in his mouth. "Dalta's doing this thing where she's trying to get hard."
"Todd," she groaned and turned to him. "I can't tell you anything, can I?"
"You can." He nodded. "But you have to tell me not to tell anyone."
She tilted her head and squinted at him, then she shook her head and turned away. "This is why I don't have friends."
I chuckled and stared at her, then I folded my arms. She was trying to look cool, but it just came off as adorable. "Get hard, huh? Why are you doing this?"
"Because," she sassed, turning her head to the side and looking at me at the corner of her eye, "you're hard and nothing ever goes wrong for. You don't care about anyone or anything and your life is awesome. Is it not?"
My smile dropped. "Dalta, I'm far from happy. My life isn't perfect. You know that."
"But you're barely ever in trouble because you always keep to yourself. I need to learn to do that now too."
"Wait a minute." I furrowed my brows. "Aren't you the one who called me a bad influence? Now you're trying to be like me? Do you hear how silly you sound?"
She froze. She suddenly turned around and lifted her sunglasses, then folded arms and looked at me. She looked at Taylor. "Nice nose."
I quickly turned to Taylor.
She was glaring at Dalta.
"Don't look at me like that," Dalta sassed. "I gave you a free nose job. You should be thanking me."
