Reese's POV
I wake up in a metal box that is going up some shaft. I look over and see a boy who looked eerily familiar but I just can't seem to remember. He shoots up gasping for air. He wheezes not taking notice to my presence. My name is Reese. My name is Reese. My name is—. My name is—. I repeat to myself. And then everything is gone. What's my name? Who am I? What am I doing here? I crawl over to the corner of the box hiding behind some crates.
"Hello?" The boy calls out
"Hello?" He calls out again as I stay hidden from view. He walks over to a crate on the other side of the box. He lifts a sheet to reveal a pig that snorts making him jump back. Yet still not realizing he isn't alone.
"Hey! Hey! Help me!" He yells banging on the top of the box.
And with that the box starts speeding up heading to the top with no intention of stopping. Yet there is no opening. I can't remember anything and the first thing that happens is that I'm going to die by being crushed in a box. The box stops abruptly causing him to fall back down staring up in fear. We then hear a buzzing sound as the lights that were once red now green. Then shutting off making it pitch black engulfing us into darkness. The only thing you can hear is his heavy breathing. The top proceeds to open light shining brightly down on us. Yet I'm still hidden from view afraid of what would happen if I came out. The boy raising his arm up from the bright change in lighting as a group of boys gather around the outskirts of the box and begin laughing, together or at the boy I'm not entirely sure.
"Go get him." I hear someone say
A boy with dirty blonde hair jumps down in front of the other boy in very close proximity to his face and says one thing. "Day one, Greenie." What the hell does that mean?
He proceeds to say "Rise and shine." while pulling him out of the box while I'm still hiding in fear. What the hell are they gonna do to us?
"He looks like a slopper to me." One boy says as they crowd around the poor boy.
"I could use some help in the kitchen." Another replies.
"Hey, we got a runner!" They say meanwhile I'm confused of what they mean. And then they proceed to laugh and applaud.
Another blonde boy jumps in the box. He peers over to where I am shaking in fear. He sees me with a confused look on his face.
"What is it?" A boy calls out taking notice of the blonde haired boy tilting his head in confusion.
"There's someone else in here." The boy answers with a different accent than the others.
"Who?" Another one proceeds to ask.
"A girl" the boy says coming closer to me as I inch closer to the corner if it were possible.
"Is she hot?" Someone calls out
"What's she look like?" One boy asks
"I call dibs" another boy calls out
"Hey you're okay." He says sweetly
"I'm Newt" he says stretching out his hand for me to take.
I slowly take it and get up gripping onto Newt for dear life. I have some weird feeling like I can trust him although I don't know anything about him besides his name.
"Come on" he says pulling me out of the box as the boys inch closer to me.
"Back up she's scared" Newt says taking notice me shaking. I grip onto his forearm tightly inching closer to him. Why are there so many boys here?
A/N Mama Noooooooot anyway I'm really late to the game seeing as the movie came out nearly 4 years ago. But that's not stopping me. As you can see I'm including some things that happened in the book, yet very little. This is mainly gonna be surrounded around what happened in the movie. I know this is a short chapter but it's merely just an introduction in a sense. I may not update as frequently because schools starting in September but I might depending on how much time I have. I definitely don't have as much time as last school year since I'm in color guard and have practice nearly everyday along with honors classes that I don't want to fail. At least I'll be taking Algebra 2 instead of dreaded geometry so yeah that's a plus. I'm sorry for the really long authors note as well. Other than that I hope you enjoy this chapter~ Much love ❤️
