I still looked out the window even though I had seen everything a million times before. I stared out and watched the others cars zoom by us, and the blurred outline of trees. I looked ahead, I was in the backseat, Dad was driving and Mom was in the passenger side.
I saw there hands were intertwined, they have been married for 23 years. I smiled. They were high school sweet-hearts, they couldn't stand being without each other, they always had to be in each others arms. "Puppy love" my grandma always told me. I wanted a long relationship
like that, puppy love.
Mom laughed at something I didn't catch. She turned her head to look at me and smiled. Everybody always said "Bo, you look so much like your mother". I don't really see it but some how everybody else dose.
"You excited to see your cousins again?" Her bright light blue eyes flash with excitement. I got my signature blue eyes from mom, and my medium brown hair from dad.
I smiled with excitement. "I can't wait, I haven't seen them in forever!". The last time I saw them was after the accident. It's a hard subject for me to cover, because I don't remember it or anything before that. I was 14 when it happened. I still remember the day I woke up, my whole body hurt inside and out. I was bruised and beaten, my mind was fuzzy I couldn't remember anything.
I remember my eyes fluttered open, my vision was scattered like shards of glass, my throat was parched, it craved to be soothed. My vision cleared I was starring up at a white ceiling, listening to the constant clicking of a machine. Something clamped to the end of my index finger. I tried to move but my body wouldn't respond. My body: a still life, with a pillow and a blanket.
Pain consumed my body, my head was spinning. Panic sliced though me like a dagger, I just realized: who am I? I searched my mind for answers but... nothing. My mind like a book, I flip though the pages all I see is white. Blank pages, even the cover: white and blank. My gut felt like a ribbon on top of a present: tied up.
I heard a click to left of me and I slowly turned my head. I saw a woman with scrubs with dirty blond hair and deep brown eyes. A clip board clutched in her small hands. Her eyes caught mine and her eyes widened in surprise. Her mouth moved up and down but nothing came out. For a split second I thought I was deaf.
"Hi, I.. u-um, didn't quite think you'd be awake," She said surprised. I just stared at her. She turned around and walked out. Okay, that's weird.
I turned my head so I'm looking at the ceiling again. Concentrating on the beeps and clicks of the machine beside me. I stare at the ceiling. I don't know what else to do. I try and sit up but my body is in to much pain. I feel like... I don't know what feel because I have no clue about anything right now.
I hear another faint click and I look over to see another woman but this time she has a lab coat on. Her dark brown hair put in a ponytail. Her fair pale skin complimented her light brown eyes. She started to walk over to me, her small heels clicking quietly against the tile floor. A small smile stayed on her lips.
"Hello, Bo,". Oh so that's my name.
"How are you feeling?" She asked. Clueless. Scared. Confused.
"I'm fine, I guess?" I said more a question than an answer.
"Well I'm Dr. Harrist, it's a pleasure to see you awake,". "Now I'm gonna check your heart beat and blood pressure real quick, okay?" She told me. I nodded.
