Ariella woke up the next morning with a headache. Her head felt like it was throbbing and would explode at any moment. It was hard to open her eyes. But the house smelled different. And the bed felt different.
Ariella gasped before opening her eyes. She took in her surroundings and her clothes. A big shirt and boxers.
"Oh my god." Ariella said as tears threatened to spill over. She must have gone home with Gary and done... well, you know. Stuff.
Ariella rolled out of the bed and grabbed her phone and her neatly folded clothes next to it. She frantically ran out into the hallway looking for her shoes. She went into the bathroom and washed her face after noticing that her makeup had been removed. She checked her phone. No texts or calls from anyone, even her mom. Was her mom worried? She went to text her when she saw that a text had already been sent to her mom that said she would be staying at Beth's. Did Gary do this? She checked her conversation with Beth and a text had been sent that Beth needed to have her back if her mom called. Ariella didn't remember any of it.
She looked through the cabinets for a pain killer. When her eyes landed on a bottle of Advil, she pounced for it and gulped it with sink water. Which by the way tasted terrible. She had a hair tie so she started on her hair. She did a french style twist before putting the rest of her hair in a messy bun. She took the big shirt off and saw that she was still wearing her bra. So this meant that maybe nothing had happened...
"Oh god, sorry." Ariella heard someone say, followed by a laugh. She put her tanktop on and then her flannel before turning around to find Cooper standing in the doorway watching her. Wait so... what happened last night?
"You're such a creep." Ariella said before closing the door in Cooper's face. She took off the boxers, which she now knew were Coopers, and slightly smiled. The hottest guy in her grade had let her wear his boxers. She shook the thought away and told herself not to get involved with or wrapped around Cooper. She put her shorts on and her socks which had been placed neatly on top of her clothes. She was confused. What was she doing at Cooper's house? In his clothes? After a party?
She still didn't know where her shoes were but she opened the door and wandered around the house. She saw stairs and began to go down them just as Cooper was starting to come up.
"Hey drunkie." he said with his award-winning smirk and Ariella couldn't help but feel flushed.
"Want coffee? I have milk and sugar. Even whipped cream." Cooper said, walking into the kitchen as Ariella followed. She had never been a coffee person but she knew it helped with hangovers. She nodded and sat at the table. She watched as Cooper poured some coffee into a mug before bringing the milk, sugar, and whipped cream over along with the mug.
"Thanks." Ariella said and spooned some sugar into the mug, followed by milk and a lot of whipped cream.
"Since I carried you to the car last night, I think I can professionally say you should hold off on the whipped cream." Cooper said as he drank from his own mug. Ariella scowled at him before adding more whipped cream to prove a point. Cooper put both his hands up in surrender and sat down at the table across from Ariella.
"So what happened last night?" Ariella asked and Cooper explained the party and the cops, leaving Gary out of the story.
"And so I texted your mom and your friend Beth before carrying you to the car. You sang the whole way back here and when I told you to wash your face and change your clothes you started picking a fight with me," Cooper continued, laughing at certain parts of the story as Ariella blushed.
"And you finally did what I asked you to do after complaining about how much you hate wearing pants to bed. Which, by the way, makes two of us," Cooper said with a wink and Ariella basically buried her face into her mug of coffee.
