Chapter 17 : Beauty out of Ashes

~A couple of months later~

Yoonji: Mom please...for the love of God...don't embarrass me in front of him...

(Y/N): Uh..hello? I just want to talk to him. Why would I embarrass you? Even if I do, then it's alright, I am your mother sweetie

Yoonji: Mom please....I really like him...so

(Y/N): Relax...I won't do anything weird

Yoonji: Yeah right...

(Y/N): I won't...haha

(I put down the tray on the table, and look at Yoonji)

(Y/N): What's wrong? It's your birthday. You should smile

Yoonji: Yeah ..um

(Yoonji looks across the living room, at all the people, all the kids dancing to the music and laughing. She looks at me with a hint of sadness and curiosity)

Yoonji: He's not gonna come, is he?

(Y/N): Um.... I don't think so

Yoonji: Where did he go, actually?

(Y/N): Don't know...he must be in some other country...hiding...I mean...he is...still a criminal

Yoonji: But he helped us...the police

(Y/N): That doesn't make up for all the crimes he committed thruout the years...so..

(Yoonji looks away...sad)

(Y/N): How did you know..?

Yoonji: Hm?

(Y/N): You said you knew...that...your dad...wasn't really your dad...

Yoonji: *Scoffs* I found out when you were in Korea...you threw away a couple of boxes...I found the letter of the paternity test in one of them...I was young..I didn't understand that much but...later I did...One of the reasons why I was mad at you for all those years...

(Y/N): God....I'm...really sorry Yoonji. Truly am.

Yoonji: I know...you were just trying to protect me...give me a family

(Y/N): Yeah..

Yoonji: I... forgive you...

(Y/N): Thank you...

(Yoonji smiles a little, takes the tray and goes to the people in the living room. A young boy, right around Yoonji's age, comes to her and kisses her slightly on the cheek, Yoonji looks like she's over the moon, hehe...that must be him)

(The boy looks at me and nods his head as a greeting, I nod back)

(I take a glass of wine from the table and stand beside the window, looking out)

(It's been several months since we came here to Tokyo. After everything that happened in Seoul...I think we needed to stay away  a while. The house here is nice, and Yoonji made a lot of frnds in her new school, I also made some with the neighborhood. All seems well... except..the fact that after Yoongi drove off in that bike on the bridge...he never came back)

Velvet: There you are

(I turn around to see Velvet walking towards me)

(Y/N): Hey..glad you could make it

Velvet: Of course...the rest of the team were excited to come here. Stuntner is going crazy with that pie you made

(Y/N): Hehe...sure..

Velvet: I know you have a question in mind

(Y/N): Yeah well...I wanted to know where...he is...you know..what he's doing
