Chapter 6: of dragons, potions and dorm barriers

It was Monday and Monday meant classes, which in turn meant more homework, which made Harry seriously regret not doing his old homework when he had the time. He had a potions essay do tomorrow, and Hermione refused to help him, since he had refused to do his homework when they had the time, saying he needed to learn responsibility. So, it was with these reasons Harry was sitting in the library, potions book open to his left side, currently hitting his forehead repeatedly against the table, ready to give up.

He lifted his head and rested his chin against the table, glaring at his essay that still was seven inches short of the three feet of parchment Professor Artus had demanded on the use of dragon blood.

Harry groaned and slammed his forehead against the table again, looking down at his shoes, as he heard a familiar voice.

"Hi Harry, mind if a friend and I join you? Every other table is being used."

Harry looked up and smiled at Aleria.

"Not at all, as long as you don't mind me complaining about my homework."

"Great, I'll go get them."

"Them? I thought you said it was just one?"

"Oh, it is only one person, my best friend actually, but they're agender so they prefer gender neutral pronouns," Aleria said walking off down the many rows of books.

A few minutes later Aleria came back with another Ravenclaw, who looked very athletic, with short cut sandy hair, a silver drop dangling from their left ear, tie undone and sun kissed skin.

"Hi," they said holding out a hand for Harry to shake. "I'm Sue."

"Nice to meet you, I'm Harry," Harry answered shaking their hand.

"What are you working on?" Aleria asked pulling out her own homework.

"Potions," Harry groaned and was surprised when Aleria groaned as well.

"I hate potions; it's the worst," Aleria complained.

Sue laughed. "You should have done like me and dropped that subject long ago."

"I already told you, I might need it," she rolled her eyes and turned to Harry. "How far are you?"

"I still need seven inches and I can't think of anything else to write."

"Can I see it? I might be able to suggest something."

"Sure," Harry said, passing her the essay.

"She hates potions, but she's actually okay at it," ("Am not," Aleria protested) "She'll probably find something you can add."

Harry turned to Sue, who had their feet, clad in big walking boots, propped up on the table. "So, what do you want to be, since you don't need potions?"

"I would like to be magizoologist, specifically a dragonologist, you know someone who studies dragons."

"Really? You should talk to Ron then; his brother Charlie studies dragons in Romania."

"Cool!" Sue said pulling out a packet of fudge flies, offering some to Harry as they popped some in their own mouth.

"You're not supposed to eat in the library," Aleria said holding out her hand for some fudge flies. Sue only snorted and gave her some, which she immediately ate. "Mental, that one," they said.

"Can't disagree with that," Aleria said through her mouthful of fudge. "Don't you have homework to do?"

"Nah, I'm just here to keep you company."
