Chapter 3

Ashtons pov

It was quiet. Too quiet. I entered the canteen fully expecting for everyone to be staring at me or at least for it to be like a wild animal sanctuary but instead it was dead silent. There was a snicker, then a cackle and soon the whole cafeteria was filled with laughter but for some reason it still felt silent.

Me, being the most popular guy in school, had to know what was going on so expectantly walked to the center of the commotion. I wasn't surprised to see Axel, but was to see that at the center was the same three girls from this morning.

They were sat there.

In front of him.

Covered in chocolate milk.

I didn't like where this was going.

The one in the middle was trembling and the two others were scared. Very scared. "Hey Shad..." but she stopped short, a look of genuine terror washed over the gingers face and the crazy one who was chasing me with a fire extinguisher was eyeing the one in the middle cautiously. It was her, the girl from this morning, Shadow. The one I punched in the face.

Shit, what had Axel gotten himself into.

"Oops did I spill something. Oh, hey Ash how nice of you to join me. Look what we have here these girls thought it would be funny to embarrass me, but clearly didn't understand who they were messing with. Look at them, scared shitless." Axel smiled.

I had a feeling it wasn't Axel they were afraid of.

"You guys might want to apologise, or your school year might just take an unexpected turn for the worse."

Shadow looked up. Her chest was heaving and blood dripping from her fist where her hands were balled up so tightly they were whiter than paper. The colour had almost completely drained from her face and her eyes were flashing from her neutral purple to bright pink. I wasn't shocked to see the sudden absence of all members of staff, probably Axel's doing but, it just meant no reliable witnesses for what was about to go down.

She spoke "Did you just threaten my friends."

"Who do you think you are talking to like that? you better start kissing ass before the little one gets it" her nodded at the ginger.

Something inside of her snapped and the rest of the colour left her face. Her eyes remained a bright pink and for a second all the air in the cafeteria stilled, her friends noticed this too and tried to grab her shoulders, but as soon as they touched her I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure they flew back. But I had no chance to think about this as she stalked towards Axel, her eyes locked on him.

She lunged forward and Axel dodged the first punch. He may be a dickhead, but he knows a fight when he sees one. What he didn't expect, was for her to spin on her heel and kick him in the face. He doubled over in pain and his cronies took action. The first one tried to grab her arms but she twisted his wrist and punched him in the nose, knocking him out. The others stepped back and some of the students ran to get a teacher. Axel was still laying on the floor holding the side of his face but when he saw her coming he stood up.

"Is that all you've got?" he taunted.

She was on him in a flash. She grabbed him by the neck and smashed him into the nearest table, but she wasn't done. Still holding his neck, she dragged him over to the wall and held him up.
