chapter 23: girlfriends & boyfriends
after hanging out with the band, mel and jack were left alone on the loft in the studio. they were laying down in a comfortable silence side by side. jack was holding onto mel's hand, playing with her fingers. she giggled to herself.
"what?" jack looks up smiling.
"your kinda cute." she giggles again.
"well, um thanks? you're cute too." he laughs nervously.
"yeah, i know, you've told me before."
"so i was wondering," jack sits up a bit, "maybe, you and me, could-uh, you know." he moves his hands weirdly making mel crease her eyebrows together, "maybe we could go out. like a date. a real one, like boyfriends and girlfriends would go on, you know?"
mel was at a loss of words opening her mouth slightly.
"boyfriends and girlfriends?"
"w-well i mean... yeah i guess if you want." jack shuddered. mel knew what he meant.
"jack?" she leaned forward a bit, "are you asking me to be your girlfriend."
"yes! that is exactly what i'm trying to say." he sighs and looks at mel with total heart eyes as she smiles brightly at the boy in front of her.
"of course i'll be your girlfriend, i mean i practically act like it all the time so why not." she shrugged and chuckles nervously.
"yeah your right, we should go on a real date like u said. a movie! and um- chinese food!"
"wow i love movies and chinese food!" mel yells.
"i guess i just know my girlfriend very well." he laughs.

after the two teenagers decided to watch a movie in at jacks house they ordered chinese food and sat down waiting for the food to arrive. let's just say they were 'talking' throughout the movie. or something like that wink wonk.
